DRIVING THE NEWLY RE-OPENED ROAD IN COLOMBO 3 | SRI LANKA | TEMPLE TREES | COLPETTY | BINAURAL

On the 4th of October 2024, the newly elected President Anura Kumara Dissanayake instructed the police to re-open the section of road behind the official residence of the Prime Minister (Temple Trees) to the public. This section of road had been for restricted access only for years, but now traffic can flow from the roundabout on St. Michael's Road, through Sri Uttarananda Mawatha to the bottom of Rotunda Gardens. This section is still only opened for one way traffic. It's unclear if/when it would be opened for two way traffic.

More than 35 year's, both parties kept this road in tight security for their own benefits. Didn't think of the surrounding residence. Because the roads were closed permantly many people sold their houses under value in past years. The new president orders, and the road opens for the public again. The surrounding residence can benefit like travel to the 'Gall Face Green' area within 15 minutes, also, through the duplication road and passing through the liberty rounder boards, they can continue through this road to petta. Traffic jamps will get reduced, and it is time saving, plus people can travel quickly.

you all have forgotten that we had 30years war and closed all these roads due to security reason . Apart from that president CBK attacked by suicide bomber, defense secretary Gotabaya, defense minister Ranjan wijerathna and army commander etc.

@@MpiMovies The 30 year old war finished almost 12 years ago. Also neither CBK or any other attacks didn't happen in their official residences. It's not practical to barricade yourself and live. If one wants to kill you, they will find a way.

Yup, Saturday, 5th October. Although it was rather early, around 6:30am, which is probably why there weren't so many vehicles.

Yes, little bit to those who want to go towards Galle Face coming from Ananda coomaraswamy mw, without waiting in St Michaels junction. It's a Galle road priority junction where the cops keep you waiting for a long time.
