So you are driving on the HSL now? This is different from your usual routes. HSL is interesting because you have to switch between 1.5Kv DC and 25 Kv AC (noticed the locomotive heading back to Amsterdam with the pantographs dropped in the neutral section). Great video as always. Maybe you will get to drive the new ICNG that is coming. It would be a treat to see it.

Nice that you took the time to include a picture of the locomotive - too many of these cab ride videos omit that and thus leave the viewer with no sense of context or purpose of the train. For all I know the head end power could be anything from Thomas the Tank Engine to an SD70ACe. As always, another well done, informative and enjoyable video. Much appreciated.

Gave video, die bij mij al lang klaarstond om gekeken te worden. Nu wordt het tijd om een ritje mee te rijden in de Thalys, tot Antwerpen of verder, en liefst in het oude model TGV dat in het begin van dit filmpje net buiten Amsterdam CS op je stond te wachten. Staat vast ook op je eigen to-do list! Ik heb alleen niet kunnen zien waar de spanningssluizen zitten. Had ook wel verwacht dat je dat in beeld breng net als al je andere teksten :) kun je het aangeven bij welke seconde precies?

Ik speel regelmatig Train Sim World 2 voor op de PC en PS4. Daar heb ik vaak de DB BR146 en BR185 bereden van de TRAXX familie. Alleen het verschil is dat de routes die ik bereden heb, Duitse routes zijn en daar maken ze gebruik van de PZB en LZB beveiligingssysteem. Op de LZB gedeeltes in Duitsland regelt de AFB functie in je locomotief automatisch je snelheid. Is dat ook het geval hier in Nederland op de HSL dat de AFB functie in de TRAXX de snelheid automatisch regelt?

21:59 do they perform a pantograph change on the fly??? Why don't they just use one pantograph for all (4 voltages? 25Kv 50Hz, 15Kv 16.7Hz, and 3Kv and 1.5Kv DC.. I think that's all of them)

@@jameswoods7276 Ding-dong is closing of the doors. Ping is the ATB announcing a change in the allowed speed. Trrrirng means brake now otherwise ATB will stop the train. Tringtrintring means ATB allows the release of the brakes. Oewha means driver tiered.

Except for graffiti, the Netherlands appears to be a tidy, orderly, and well organized nation. Those frequent and smoothly rapid and efficient passenger trains on excellent track is a good sign of this. (And keeping the freights on their own lines as much possible certainly helps.)

The train signalling is ETCS (European train control system) instead of the dutch ATB (automatische trein beveiliging), this part of the ERTMS programme.

No, I was a passenger.. Good question regardig speedometer. The gps recorder loses signal inside a tunnel, and makes an average speed and track for that part. We made a stop in the Schiphol Tunnel, so average does not work there.

I'm curious about that flashing X on the last signal you pass on entering Rotterdam. We've seen flashing numerals before, so what does this mean?

The ''X'' means that the driver of the train has to reduce it's speed in a way that it can stop at the next signal. It's mainly for freight trains. If the ''X'' doesn't flash, the driver *HAS* to stop at the designated signal that shows the ''X''.

To prevent heavy freight trains to get stuck on the upward slope in the tunnel ahead, it is not allowed to enter a tunnel when there is a train in front it. Flashing X means stop at next X. You find these signals at any tunnel.

I was a little disappointed in the HSL. Those sound reflecting panels - no, that's the wrong description, sound containing panels spoiled the outlook. Their design caused a marked stroboscopic effect which I found unsettling.
