Went to Havenscourt JR Highschool back in the 1980's..I will miss the pro sports teams,the East Mont mall,M.B Shopping center etc.Yes I had many fun times in East Oakland but not anymore.. I'm so glad I moved away from Oakland..I hope and pray one day that Oakland bounces back to the great city it used to be..

I grew up in that area. 81st and Birch, to be exact. Despite the blight and violence, there are many hard-working people who are doing the best they can with the resources at hand. It's definitely not perfect, but this place will always be home.
