I remember when the Gateway Bridge opened, they had a fun run over it & it's first 'jumper' over the side. Well it was low tide & he wasn't far enough where the water was deep enough. He ended up stuck in mud & they lifted him out with a crane. He didn't come back & try that again to my knowledge.

Love you videos Jonno. I've been driving up and down the Pacific highway now for close on 40 years (admittedly not in heavy vehicles) as my folks live in the Sunshine Coast and coming from Canberra the one thing that has really struck me over that length of time is how the traffic has become mega busy year after year from the Tweed right through to Noosa since the 80's. Maybe it's us Southerners moving to the better climate (compared to my home town of Canberra every other coastal place is utter tropics!)

Gday Johnno, I don’t mind these type of videos when there’s something to listen to other than music. The difference with yours is that you talk all the way through them which makes it interesting, always want to hear what you have to say. Some other videos just play music while in fast motion which is fine too but or normally fast forward through those bits. Good job! Drive safe.

You travel the Gateway South side in the morning going Nth its chocker, then going Sth after 2.30pm then its a crawl, all the way and sometimes all the way to the Gold Coast... same on Northside from Nudgee to up the Bruce in the arvo from 2.00pm its chocker... Logan arvo east bound slow to Gateway.. That sharp bend has claimed several trucks,, When you depart going back sth, to the gateway the flyover ramp tight right has seen plenty of roll overs...We are forced to use the toll rd, , camera monitored Kessels Rd, on the road to Rocklea.. When you are leaving Brisbane you notice on the Warrego Hwy, Bremer River Bridge Bundamba slow down 60kmh trucks left lane, speed camera on the right looks like a mini digger.. Outbound bridge is stuffed cracked steel beams. weight limits during the day, Night time over weight heavy moves have to use the inbound bridge, everything inbound stops on a red light & police and the dance begins escort checks inbound clear, then oversize goes wrong way up the Hwy over the good inbound bridge.. I see you try to cut off the complainers before they get started. I would pay them no attention as they may be the ones in the right lane holding folks up in their cars. Have good days!

I know that you drive Lumbars prime movers - do you get paid by the hour/day/load? No need to respond if that's a commercial thing.

I get paid per kilometre whilst driving and hourly when loading and unloading.

Isn't it funny different people's perspective. Coming from UK and Europe I find all Australian driving painfully slow. And Living in Queensland have always considered the standard of driving terrible, especially on freeways. No lane discipline. Try that in Germany. As to paranoid about speed, that is with just cause. In Queensland you can commit most crimes the police are not interested. They even refuse to take phone reports of crime. You have to fill out a form online and they may get back to you in 5 days. Or not as is usual. But all our roads are packed with police and speed cameras. I live in the middle of nowhere and have still been done for speeding at 4am with only me, the kangaroos and the copper on the road. Then you have to consider the fines. Qld I believe is the dearest State. $309, $464, $696 $1,161 $ 1,780, from less than 11K over and on. Bloody dear. And literally every time you go out you see loads of cameras or pass police cars with radar that turn around and pinch you. It is almost impossible to concentrate on driving focused on the speedo. And I don't have cruise control. Then they wonder why the road toll keeps rising despite the speed limits keep dropping. Queensland is one of the worst places to drive that I have come across, and I have driven in numerous countries around the world.

Thanks Dave. You sound like you've got a grasp on how police work here. Pretty shocking.
