I knew that but not everyone knows. Its always good to wait a few years for problems to get sorted out. Being Toyota was no different. Im really not trying to bash bronco here but buying a first year of anything all you're doing is saying " when all the short falls and issues arrive.. i want to be among the first ones to experience them". Before my 4runner i had a wrangler and at 90k i got cel one after the another. Either way, when something comes out its always good to wait a few years and let others experience all the issues and than get it for example 4 years after its already been out. Fun stuff! A couple of thoughts. A-TRAC at 4:03 worked but MTS would have been the preferred application. A-TRAC is principally designed to be used to get a vehicle going from a dead stop. As the manual states, A-TRAC helps prevent the spinning of 4 wheels when the vehicle is "started" on slippery road surfaces. It works when you are in motion but when going over obstacles, MTS is more robust and the best solution. So, through Razor Rocks MTS would have been the go to solution with rear locker engaged as appropriate. Also note that instead of the MTS Rock setting, the MTS Mogul setting would have been the better choice. It would have worked well at around 7:15. Mogul is always the best setting for those cross-axle mogul situations where you have one wheel up in the air. Cheers!

Crab walking is part and parcel to using a locking differential on loose terrain. That's why it's a bad idea to use them in snow, as an LSD and/or Traction control would be better. His issue is that he didn't have enough articulation to keep the wheels on the ground, and thus had to use the locker.

The dent really illustrates one of the design features I really like about the Bronco, and the Wrangler as well. The wider track with the plastic flares that stick out rather than sheet metal really help in situations like this. I think if the Bronco or Wrangler had hit the tree in the same manner, it simply would have popped a few clips off the flare. I've seen other Jeep Channels whack the flare on things, and they just pop right back into place. I imagine the Bronco with the same way. Who knows, they may even be able to remove easily ahead of time.

Dude those plastic fender flares wouldn’t have done anything to protect the body
@trailrunnah8886
@trailrunnah8886 3 жыл бұрын
@@doylee469 not necessarily protect the body, it's just that the body doesn't stick out so far. If you have the Bronco or a Wrangler in the same position, don't know that the sheetmetal would have actually made contact with the tree. Just an observation. I watched a lot of Jeep videos, and a lot of times they'll scuff the flare and I'll think to myself that that would have done a hell of a lot of damage to my 4Runner.

Thought the same thing. Cranking the wheel full driver turned that passenger front tire into an anchor around which the ass end pivoted. Without being there, we can't know, but there's a fair chance that keeping the wheel straight would've saved a few thousand in damage. Also, point to the Bronco, because those rear quarters are removable panels on the Bronco if you were to damage the same spot.

Great collab guys. The over-inflated Falken tires on the Toyota , combined with ifs in the front, put you into a position to crab the rear sideways when off-camber. The ATRAC isn’t aggressive enough to compensate for your driver’s front tire being completely in the air. Positive attitude after the “oops”- nobody flopped at least! I’ve been spoiled with dual lockers, solid axles and massive articulation for too long...but it’s fun to see you guys taking near stock vehicles on these obstacles.

You are 100% correct about the line and the tires. WE have almost the same rig(albeit mine is a 2018), same color. I have KDSS, you do not. (it makes a difference)I put sliders on right away, you did not.(makes a difference) You opted for the Premium package with the sunroof, I did not. lol (has no bearing on capabilities) Same territory we run it in. But I chose to use the factory given tires and they do better than anyone gives them credit for. That OR system compensates a LOT.(if you learn how to use it to your advantage)The only down side for me has been mud. And seeing how your choice tires worked, I won't be picking those when the time comes to replace mine. lol Found 1 of your 1st videos with the same tires(as mine) conquering a muddy up hill camber scenario. The Ford is the clear winner in the off-road challenge. However the 4runner is a better grocery getter.

Great Video, I Did not expect to see Tommy on this channel, but it was good to see him, Too bad Andre was'nt there too😁😁. The Toyota is Obviously LESS capable than the FORD(Sorry Toyota Lovers😁), Although the FORD with same goodies can be had for a lot less than 64K.

My two favorite vehicle reviewers, Tommy and Ryan. Awesome collaboration, and great insight from both of you. In your line of work you likely expect to have some mishaps along the way, thankfully only minor body damage to a vehicle and not a person.

Seen a lot of 4 runners in Afghanistan where that trail would be considered not to bad a road. Most we’re armored so they weighed a bit more as well. Good video.

I went ahead with the Bronco Badlands and I love it! So capable and makes off roading fun with it's easy flip top convertible and easy removable doors.

Years ago when I was wheeling my 4R I slid down from a side hill and hit a tree on the back door handle. It pushed the handle in about 1 inch. Much worse damage :) but despite that everything still works!

I don’t think experience is the issue. Ryan is in the habit of going very slowly so that his viewers can see the 4wd systems in action, especially wheel braking and articulation.

Awesome Collab between two of my favorite offroad channels! I've been in those 0.5 inch clearance rock and a hard place scenarios and since my 08 Fj has no crawl control I relied on left foot braking, Atrac and rear diff lock lol. I still never dented a body panel yet but took a few other casualties with bumpers and skid plates lol.

I like how you attempted the "SR5" mode. I just got an SR5, unfortunately the wife said we really needed the 7 seater, and toyota unfortunately makes you chose between family and offroad. I will most likely be installing Lockers in the future, but good to see that it can at least handle some obstacles fairly decently without all the other Off Road exclusive assists. Great review and grat angles to see exactly how the 4Runner is handling. Awesome work on this video and your other 4runner videos. You earned a subscriber.

I actually always enjoy the gutsy attitude that Rayan has when testing cars to the limits.. I sometimes feel like TFL is way too light on their vehicles.. Off roading is about adventure.. and taking risks and pushing the limits ... and sometimes that means ripping off the bumper.. but all those battle scars is what makes a good advanture story.. what's the point of going off road at all if you are not gonna do anything risky.. just stay on the pavement then.. So yeah thank u! It will cost a few bucks to fix but the adventure story is worth way more
