Meta Quest Pro VS HTC Vive XR Elite - HTC Failure

Wish I watched this review first, all of the sponsored reviews on KZbin convinced me to buy the XR elite, and HOLY **** it is absolutely garbage, not worth $5. When compared side to side with a Rift S, Quest 2, and Quest 3, it is not even similar in performance or clarity or comfort. The XR elite is worse than the "vr headsets" you clip your cellphone into and play mobile app games on. The image is extremely zoomed in, especially the passthrough, so much so that I couldn't walk around with the passthrough turned on. The diopter lenses seemed to be blurry/glaring no matter how they were adjusted and the FOV was so small it was worse than looking through a keyhole on a door, the FOV was made substantially worse because the image is so zoomed in. it feels like you are seeing everything through a 3X magnification and your viewpoint is in front of the headset in games and passthrough. The actual headset tracking is abysmal... it makes me so sick because it is so laggy and stuttery and the refresh rate has to be around 40hz (claimed 90), and gives constant framerate drops in Wired and Wireless configuration. I bought this headset specifically for using with my Vive Ultimate trackers, and after plugging them into the headset and calibrating, I learned this feature is only supported by 3 games, and doesn't stream their tracking to SteamVR, so that feature is literally useless to me. I cant find a single reason to recommend this headset to anyone of any budget. Buy a used quest 2 for $100 and you'll have a far better experience. Even with all of the amazing features and addons for the vive xr, they can't be used if the VR headset can't do VR. don't even ask about the controllers, I'd rather have quest 3 controllers (far far worse than quest 2 controller tracking) because at least those feel quality, and the battery can be swapped, and don't leak power, and are comfortable, and the buttons actually work %100 of the time. Picking up the vive xr elite controllers makes me frown, it feels like picking up a chinese knockoff toy and knowing you're about to be disappointed.. theyre HUGE, creaky, hollow, clacky, awkwardly shaped, the tracking is BAD, and the triggers barely work at all. DO NOT BUY THIS HEADSET. I got mine cheaper than a quest 3 because noone is buying them on Amazon, but I still returned it and got my $460 back. Vive is really funny pulling the prank of charging $1000 for this headset, again it's FAR worse than a $200 dollar quest 2, and the Xr price cut down to $800 should have been a price cut down to $5 because it's all the headset is worth.

I own several consumer and enterprise hmds from Meta, Pico, and HTC, and the HTC Vive XR Elite is my favorite for the following reasons: (1) The headset is very light and comfortable when using the fabric facial interface, overhead strap, and battery cradle. It fits my average-size face and nose well, is nicely balanced, and the fan keeps everything cool and the optics free of condensation. I had no problem with light leakage. Thankfully, there's no need to use the enclosed glasses wings (which feel like giant tweezers pinching behind my ears). HTC needs to offer longer replacement wings for the headset to be usable in "glasses mode." (2) The unique diopter adjustment is a godsend for people like me who are nearsighted and would prefer not to wear glasses or contacts when using an hmd. The pancake lenses give a crystal clear view with a wide sweet spot and no god rays. There's a bit of cloudiness and light bleed in high contrast scenes, but it's not noticeable in most cases. (3) The new Vive MR face gasket (2 for $25) is excellent for mixed reality applications, combining the camera view with your peripheral vision. It provides a sufficient offset so that people with astigmatism can wear corrective lenses (which is not possible with the fabric facial interface). It's also helpful for novice users who become disoriented or experience motion sickness with fully immersive VR interfaces. (4) The XR Elite delivers high quality video, pass-through, audio, and tracking, with performance as good or better than competitive headsets. The original list price ($1,099) is a hard sell, but with recent price cuts, promotions, and "used-like new" options available, it can be an excellent value. Of course the competitive landscape continues to change, with the introduction of the Quest 3 and next year's Pico 5 and Apple Vision Pro, but I'm very happy with the XR Elite and plan to keep using it as my daily driver for the foreseeable future. To eliminate controller battery drain mentioned in the video, press and hold the Vive buttons until the controllers completely power off.

Well it depends on your particular use of your headset and what u want out of it,if you like to play a lot of stand alone games then it's quest pro hands down (I really only play sports games) and only had a couple games on my quest pro (golf +,nfl pro era,creed boxing etc...before I sold it .XR elite is the better choice for me because it has many more uses ,For instance it's very modular ...I can cast my phone to it ,I have a Rokid station( portable android tv) that I use on it and the compact form factor is awesome (try the vive Mr gasket).l also love virtual desktop on it for (steam)pcvr and all of the upcoming accessories to come , so for someone like who doesn't play a lot games and is not a vr geek it's the perfect headset

Good review. I am returning my Vive XR Elite. It's horrible and the most uncomfortable headset I've ever worn.
