I saw the word celibate and I immediately clicked. I became celibate out of desperation. During my divorce, everyone failed me, even my own family. So, I decided to turn to Jesus. I became celibate to give my entire life and body to Jesus. Little did I know that there were many perks in this way of life: 1. Celibacy gives me peace of mind- I don't have to worry about contracting sexually transmitted diseases. 2. Celibacy gives me clarity. There are so many things you have to deal with in relationships which can cloud one's mind- cheating, lying, deceit and domestic violence. 3. Celibacy has kept me focused on my career. I have gotten two degrees on this journey (nursing/ psychology ) and I am now working on my third degree while starting my small business. I initially became celibate by circumstance (ppl don't approach much but I'm really nice). Eventually, I settled into it more spiritually and psychologically. And this continues to evolve. For now I prefer it. I'm waiting for God to deliver my hubby at this point. I'm nearing 50 but looking and feeling so young. I still get carded. Maybe I'm aging backwards because no spouse is stressing me out? The one downside is that I miss the relationship stuff. Although, on the upside of celibacy there is so much to discover - like none of his germs! Joking aside it fits my life. But of course I want love just with the right person. When asked, I just tell people I'm good the way things are, and if someone comes along, they have to get tested. I think asexuality needs to be talked about more. Some people choose not to have sex. Ever or for a while. But some people don't want sex, ever. Or they have very little interest. They might even have sex - for the enjoyment of their partner for example (in a loving, consensual relationship of course). There are many ways to be and it's so good of you to spread the word that all of this is okay. If you feel it isn't, you can of course try see if you can receive help. But if people are okay with the way they are, the society should stop misrepresenting and invalidating their experience. Trying to change them or fix them.

Been more or unintentionally celibate since 2002 now. As a man, celibacy is the natural state, imo, because getting women takes effort. If I make no effort, I get no women. There have been a few rather obvious signs from women on occasion, but probably a lot more I never noticed. In the obvious cases, situations have all been too complicated to go for it, so that's the way it is. I think a woman would have to be extremely blatant these days for me. I do find it easier and more relaxing to basically ignore whatever sex signals women might be trying to rekay.

You would think that once you have matured and are older you don’t have to worry about many of these issues, but the truth is you do. I can only speak from a female heterosexual person, but there are way to many men 40+ years old that are still taking many risks not practising safe sex, lying about their health status and are not looking for a serious long term relationship and being dishonest about it; it’s sad. As they say why buy the cow if you can get the milk for free. I’m not shaming people that chose to have open relationships, be free and open with their life, but ppl that don’t practise these believes aren’t looking for a one night stand or short term relationship or non monogamous relationship so they practice celibacy. The choice is yours however I know way too many ppl in this age group that are constantly disappointed and depressed because relationships never end as expected or wanted.

For som people on the autistic spectrum become being cellibate is natural. As relationships are unpredictive and therefore choose to concentrate on more intelectual persuts. If you choose to be cellibate you get a lot of energy left over which gets pentup over time. There for it is important to find alternative ways to dirtect to other things like interlectual persurtes. In my case it is developing interlectually through academic studies. Concentration incresses in very deep thought. People say if you are celibate you are selfish. I say the opposite you can through you interlect contribut to the acumaltion of knowlege for the grater good. As I decide to be celibate from an early age I got most of my sex education when I started medical school. The decision was based on I never saw my parents happy when to gether. Also I find that emotions associsted with sex can switch very quickly form love to hate on the side of both parties. Also what little experiance I gave had is both painfull and energy daining to the extent that I am unable to funtion for up to days. Forexample being very unsteady standing up and feeling like to faint. Also you feel like sleeping for days. The cost of love and sex out ways the benifits. Forgot to mention I am a male. By the way this is just informational on how I see it and manage it.

I've been celibate since the pandemic started. It's been 4 years, and I still am celibate and will continue to be so. I have almost completely lost all my desire to have sex. And no, it's not because of the religion or anything. I'm agnostic, by the way. But the mental clarity I have gained over these years is insane. I thank myself that I made that decision. Now I can't even think of having a relationship. I want to be loved and all that, but sex will not happen until I truly feel and my mind is at peace. I realised my priorities in life and how much mental peace matters to me. I chose to be celibate to figure out my life. I was unemployed and needed a job desperately. When your life is s**t, then you can't think of sex anymore. It always happens to me. Now that I have a job, I still can't think of being intimate with anyone. I don't feel it anymore.
