You are my inspiration, I'm a college freshman and I always had the idea that my life had to be put on hold while pursuing my dream as a psychiatrist but you have showed me that your life and dreams can fit together like a puzzle. Life has no pause button, everything that is meant to be will happen regardless. There's never a need for you to fret or worry, you don't think how am I supposed to do this? How do I do that? You just do it. ❤️❤️

You are going to make a great mother and a physician, Jenny! Keep your head up. Fun fact: my mom is a doctor (:
@drjennale7 жыл бұрын
+Ekaterina Berulava That's awesome! Kinda personal question so you don't have to answer. But do you ever feel like your mom is not present enough because of work? Or do you have a designated family day? This is such unknown territory for me
@OliveHazyMama7 жыл бұрын
I am actually happy to answer that, because there is a lot of negativity out there regarding being a physician and a parent, and I will be completely honest with you ... I am 20 now, and now that I look back to my experiences as a child I don't feel like I was depleted of my mom's attention in any way. My mom was pregnant with my older brother during her residency and pregnant with me when she was a practicing physician. She did take a maternity leave for little while right after giving a birth for both of us, but she returned to practice shortly. Raising us and being a great mom was a juggling act for her. When she was at work, her own mom would babysit us. When we got older and started going to school, we weren't home much when she was at work anyway, so it wasn't a big deal. The times that she wasn't with us were easily made up for with a good quality time she spent with us after work/ during weekends. So to put it simply, I never felt like she wasn't present enough because of work because quality time always mattered to me more than quantity, and she also received a lot of support from her family. My dad had to go through the same thing, but it wasn't as easy for him since he is a surgeon, so he was gone way more and would be very exhausted when he got home. Often, my dad would take me to work with him which was very very fun and a great bonding experience, which is partially why I am pursuing medicine myself :) Bottom line: having kids as a doctor may be challenging, but parenting is not easy to begin with. You don't have to sacrifice being a great parent or a great physician... If you find at least some time every day to spend with your loved ones and make an effort to stay engaged in their lives, you can be both! You don't have to be perfect; they will love you anyway.

Thanks for the update😄!!! Small advice on the baby clothes, you won't really need new born clothes. My son weighed 6lbs (he was a thin baby) and he was 20in inches long when he was born. His pants were above his ankles and the clothes was fitted. I suggest buying 3month old clothing☺️

Great video. I appreciate you sharing deeper insight of your pregnancy coming from a medical background. And I'm glad to see it's possible to start a family while in MED school! I wish you all the best. You mentioned scars so I'd like to know your thoughts on laser resurfacing for scars?
@drjennale7 жыл бұрын
+Kendall N I asked the plastic surgeon about that while on a rotation. He said that it is only good for people with lighter skin. People with darker skin have a very high risk of hyperpigmentation.

Here in Singapore, getting into med schools is crazy difficult. About 10k people take the A level exam and only about 400++ students are admitted into MBBS undergrad programme in the only 2 med schools in Singapore annually. There's an MD track but it only admits 60 students each year. Not in Med sch btw, too morbid for me. Haha. Anw, all the best for pregnancy and med sch. U got me started with bullet journaling and it helps heap!

I had my glucose tolerance test and had a blood sugar of 211!😳 so that didn't qualify me for the 3 hour fasting test. I was a sad cuz I live a very healthy, active life style practically my whole life. I'm the type of gal that worked out 2-3 hrs, 6 days per week prior to pregnancy. I don't drink soda or juices. Also, Diabetes doesn't run in my family either. It's very interesting and a bit annoying, but I know it's best for my baby and I.

Try making a sugar scrub out of the coconut oil! Scrubs are for lighten stretch marks
@drjennale7 жыл бұрын
+Diamond Higgins I'll have to try that out! Is there a specific type of sugar you suggest?
@diamondhiggins67147 жыл бұрын
Jenny Le I just use what have in my house 😅which is zulka morena pure sugar cane sugar, it's close to turbinado sugar (sugar in the raw). I like for a body scrub b/c it's not as fine as white sugar.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by saying that the lady was caucasian & healed better when she cut her finger?
@drjennale7 жыл бұрын
+Jeannie Britt Usually people with lighter skin heal better - as in their scares are lighter, they do not form keloids, and rarely suffer from hyperpigmentation. This is based on what a plastic surgeon would consider "better" - just appearance wise.

@drjennale7 жыл бұрын
+Mina H. I think as a fourth year medical student, you're mostly on your own with scheduling rotations and finishing all your requirements for graduations. But my school did allow me to use some of my credits as a "newborn elective" in place of a clinical rotation - this will give me time to deliver the baby!
@Fperfekt7 жыл бұрын
Ah, that sounds great! I was just curious as a friend of mine was strongly encouraged by our med school (UK) to take a year out, and she did in the end. I'm glad to hear your school are more reasonable! =) all the best x
