Great video, however the im608 has its issues too: 1. Online server calculations can be very slow. 2. VAG online CS calculations as in common with other tools for JCI and virtual dashboards are currently mostly blocked, so the coverage of these vehicles has been greatly reduced. I wouldn't be too hard on the smart pro, it's the tool of choice for those of us who duplicate car keys and remotes with a preference for Silca remotes; tried tested and safe and as of last month a new adapter has been released which can add FSB3 Mercedes remotes. As you probably know Silca/AD releases new remotes/software almost every month so the range of the smart pro is always expanding. In summary the shop based key cutter/auto key programmer is probably best sticking with the smart pro.

Not sure what your area of operations is, but I will say, west coast Canada, I work at a small shop, we have a smart pro, MVP pro, Autel Maxisys and looking at possibly expanding into an im608, we find our smart pro has a lot of shortcomings and the amount of times we go to the MVP pro to knock out something the smart pro shouldn't have a problem with but does is sad. The autel maxisys is primarily a scan tool and I use it more for programming than the smart pro except in unique situations where our software is 2+ years outdated and just doesn't work well. Also using the mykeyspro I feel like information is inflated on the website such as the 2014+ rogues. Mykeyspro will give you no indication of a problem, you hook up the smart pro and it tells you that you might just cook a module and they wash their hands of it, so you order in a key based of what looks like great success and then they warn you after the fact that there is an issue that is likely a Nissan issue and they wont support you, and now you have a key to return if you don't like gambling.

Shop based myself, with a small amount of auto work which I enjoy doing and I'd like to expand on, I only do duplication, I can obviously program the entire range of Silca remotes and then some more. The Autel is a good tool and it's a toss up between it and vvdi2 which will be my next programming purchase. Another tool worth mentioning that does all the regular cars is the TDB1000, no tokens, no internet connection needed, no annual subscription, super quick and great support.

Very interesting. I stumbled across this when thinking about how to make a new key for vintage BMW key but then I got to thinking...The expense and difficulty of making a new key would influence the car I buy -- I´m about to buy a car and will now investigate the cost of a duplicate key.

Need to add Abrites. And VVDI MB, VVDI Prog, VVDI 2, AK90. IM608 is for sure an excellent tool though. I use it all the time. I actually use AutoProPad the most because it’s just the easiest and most convenient for me to use but if you want to do most cars you need several programmers and other tools. IM608 also allows for diagnostic function and computer programming and module programming on cars. So if someone replaces there PCM in a ford you can add it in for them. Or a skim module on a dodge. Though the Autopropad does lots of the same. Also my least used but still necessary is the smart pro. I honestly don’t like it very much but you do need it. It’s definitely an overpriced tool that does not do a whole lot but when you need it you need it.

Autel is a nice tool, however, 2 of my 3 tools have had to be replaced! MK908 at 1 year and IM608 at six months. It forced me to but the ultra and then a IM508 to hold me over while tools were in for repair! Talking with my fellow techs, Autel’s are always breaking

hi guys , i am a locksmith and I just started key programming and remotes for cars and, I have the Xhorse mini key tool and I wanted to upgrade with OBD, I had a choice with buying the new VVDI key tool plus tablet or the autel im608+, so I have invested in an im608+, please advise would I also need to buy the Xhorse VVDI key tool Max plus or would my Im608+ do what the VVDI key tool Max plus can do, thanking you. thank you Dr Lock for the video and i wish u do get sponsors so you can do more videos easily

Hello friend, curious to know what your opinion or if you had use the (Autek Key Programmer Ikey820) OBD2 Immobilizer Diagnostic. Is it worth the purchase for real world usage? I own a 2004 Nissan 350z, and the dealership wants $175.00 US for just programming this dang thing! I have just one (Master key/Fob). Please, I would appreciate it and, like to hear your comments. Here's how making a duplicate lost transponder in CANADA. I purchased a a 2004 Volvo S60 from a dealer. The key the following winter breaks inside the door lock and the transponder is lost. Cost of replacing and programming the transponder at the local dealership including taxes is $251 Cdn l, no remote, reg replacement key only. Dealer procedure, the original KEY is shipped to California to be duplicated, shipped back to the dealership in Canada, and requires your 2004 to be towed to Volvo for programming. VOLVO offers free towing for life. The local locksmiths do not offer this service! Crazy!

Yes it works on tokens, you make tokens the more you use, it should do most smart keys

From what we have found, it's an all-in-one tablet, just like the Key tool max but bigger and has the ability to do European cars too. It's about $4k and for that price, the Autel is in the same price range, because the Autel im608 is better. We spoke to a reseller of the tool and asked for a loan of the tool to do a video on it, but they declined. So we won't know more until someone buys it

It means you dont pay every time you use it, with the smart pro you have the option, pay per use or pay for 6 months unlimited or one year unlimited. its about $4k for a year unlimmited, and for the the Autel its about 1800 2k subscription per year

Hello. Im looking to buy a car key programmer. I have a small car dealership. Im also a mechanic. I've dealing with cars for 20 years. I have a complete mechanic shop with the latest scan tools but I need a car key programmer that can program cars with all key lost, just in case... Right now, i bought a lot of 14 Smart Fortwo from 2008 to 2015 and 2 of them came without any keys, none of them. Im not a locksmith but im not a regular customer neither. The $1000 subscription fee per annum for the 608 far outweighs the cost of the time saved, scans etc. The emulator function combined with the Mercedes options make this a very powerful tool. Still has some gaps but a very capable tool.

@@DrLockShop Ah yes that will get ya, otherwise Grammarly is a very good add on. Make sure you grab the emulator for the 608 as well. Its a very handy little device and works well with Toyota - However, If you have the Tango Toyota add on, then it wont give you a great deal extra besides an all in one emulator and less kit to carry on the road.

Yes, Go with the 508 with all the extras, I have only used the 608 and in my experience, it's always more expensive for a reason. As to what the difference is, I can not tell you, maybe you can share your experience. When it comes to buying programmers, I just want the top of the line, so I'm not stuck on a job, and I'm willing to pay the difference to not be caught out. A few times I have bought the lesser model and its cost me in the long run, as the company's only support the newest or the full version, that would be my reasons for the 608 over the 508, maybe its just, maybe not, unfortunately, we are not able to get both to compare, and find the difference. But if you are correct and there is no difference, then the 508 would be the winner and its cheaper,...

The new VVDI Pad is at the top end, Autel 608 beats it, The Auto pro pad is the new xtool and the VVDI is more friendly to the user in the middle range of programmers with EEprom too, The code Canible is in the middle and the VVID has a more friendly range, The smart pro is top end price and the 608 is more powerful, your welcome to disagree, but please share your thought as to why so we all know
