5:07 This was one of my mother's favorite tools, after she'd slight me or do something she knew would get to me. She would then blissfully nearly sing to anyone else around to "just ignore her," as if my upset was unreasonable and came from nowhere but my black heart. I was a child being abused in front of others who didn't care at all.

That sounds awful 😕 I'm sorry you had to go through that. Good that you're reclaiming your emotional autonomy now!

Setting limits or "boundaries" for yourself and to others is not rude. It's just that you are kind to yourself and you want those people to help themselves as well. I'm glad that I am watching your videos since last week. Your videos help me in my emotional and self growth. Thank you ma'am!

Yes, if we never learned how to protect our emotional autonomy, it’s like learning a new language 💯 It’s like learning any other skill, though, with practice we can all get good at this 💪🏻. All the best to you 🙋‍♀️

Hi maika,i want a small help from you.these days iam very depressed and some unusual thinking and unusual thoughts are coming into my mind and makes me even more depressed. so i asked some of my friends to what to do and they said to go and see a therapist.i said ok. But maika i keep getting hopeless that what if therapies don't work on me and what if there are no ways for curing?.so what advice would you like to give me? Thank you.

Hi Wilber, I'm sorry to hear that you're not feeling well. These phases in life can be a tremedous chance for inner growth, if we allow them to be. Feeling hopeless about ever getting better is one of the mechanisms and symptoms of depression. This is unfortunately, what prolongs depression for many people: their depression tells them that there is no hope of ever getting better, so they don't try anything to get better. Luckily, there is hope, lots of it! Depression has a high healing rate and therapists nowadays have a lot of detailed knowledge they can support people with and help them heal. I encourage you to not believe your feeling that there is no hope, it is just a feeling, not truth. The reality is that people heal from depression and other mental illnesses all the time. What do you have to lose if you try therapy and what is the potential gain? It is definately worth trying. I wish you all the best 💖
