How well do people do who have a starting BMI less than 35?

Bmi of 30 having the sleeve done next week. I can't seem to get any lower than I am now. Super excited for this change.

Are you doing it out of pocket? I'm BMI 33 and was rejected due to being too light.

@@societycrumbles I did. Theres a place in Vegas that will do it. Blossom Barriatrics. If you are self funded or financed they'll do it at 30. Insurance requires a 35. I think they are around 7k. I almost went there but decided to go a different route.... Theres medical tourism in Tijuana Mexico. Which I know sounds sketchy. However I know 3 people who have used Dr Verboonen at Obesity Goodbye and they have done amazing. So I decided to go there. $4500. Plus flights. The Operating Room was state of the art. The nurses were amazing. Theres a private Facebook group full of happy people and newbies getting started on their adventure. It's run by the nutritionalist. I couldn't find a bad review anywhere. And since I knew 3 people I was comfortable. Do you research. 🙂 12 days post op and 15 pounds down. My incisions are healed. I feel good. I work with a nutritionalist for the first year included in the cost.

@@a.l.a7901 Thanks for the reply! I have an appointment with a surgeon on Wednesday, I can't afford doing it out of pocket, so I hope my insurance will be able to cover the surgery. I don't know what to do if I get rejected again :C

@@societycrumbles my reply disappeared. There wasn't even anything bad in it! 🤣 I hope it all works out for you. The place in Vegas will bill insurance at a 35. If you are a 33 you aren't far off. Maybe have a few extra snacks? That's terrible advice. 🤣 I hope you get approved. It's been a game changer. It's made me realize that I have more mental food cravings than anything. I'm not even hungry but my brain will think to go get a snack. 🤣 I tell my self NOPE YOU DONT DO THAT ANYMORE. YOU ARENT EVEN HUNGRY. KNOCK IT OFF. 🤣🤣🤣 I am seeing a therapist for my food issues. Started with BMI 41 now post mini gastric bypass 6 months am BMI 34.7. I self funded as I am in the UK 🇬🇧 I had sleep apnea, reduced mobility and high blood pressure and Covid petrified me. Yes I think I thought I would lose weight quicker however I am actually happy with slow and steady. No regrets

It's interesting that you talk about what exactly is a 'normal' or 'healthy' weight. I find it curious that there are different standards depending on who you ask (BMI, waist/hip ratio, etc.) and there seems to be a lot of different factors at play. I can say that I had surgery at BMI 50 and I'm thrilled with the results! After spending my entire adult life fighting a losing battle against obesity, I finally feel like I'm on the winning side for a change. It feels great. BTW I'm looking forward to the release of your cookbook!

I was told by Kaiser Permanente (HMO) that Emory St. Jpe's hospital in Atlanta will NOT do bariatric surgery on anybody with less than a 35 BMI. I am so disappointed. My BMI is 32. I am overweight, a type 1 diabetic and have high blood pressure. I've also lost all of my toes and have neuropathy - exercise is difficult. I am so disappointed. Any suggestions?

I believe I was 32 bmi when I had RNY a few weeks ago. I purchased Dr. Weiner's cookbook and hope to lose weight and eating a whole food diet. I have had a stall which is frustrating.

any heartburn or GERD symptoms ? Would I have to frequently take antacids ? I removed my lap band after 10 years due to those complications and now I’m wondering and I’m almost sure I will have the same symptoms , can you let me know your side effects? Only thing from stopping me from getting the sleeve besides the hairloss and the flacid skin, bmi of 30/32

I am 22 years old and my weight is 81 kg .I want to reduce weight only for aesthetic appearence as an alternative to workouts and dieting .So,am I a qualified candidate for this surgery then?
