Normally I agree, but a hose wouldn't be effective against most drones, which would either be too high, for any fire hose to reach, or at least splash proof and can just move away from the stream which will have a limited area of operation. I'll believe that hoses are effective when I see it. IMO the most effective method to take down an unwanted drone at an airport, is a sacrificial fpv drone, flown by a capable fpv pilot. Fast effective and beyond the capability of most if not all GPS assist drones. 😊

There's only one regulation I want. I remember reading a nature article about how moths avoid bats and how it could be used for aviation. Basically the moths can hear the bats and then the moths nose dive. It would take only a tiny amount of electronics on both vehicles, and very tiny amounts of electricity. I want my uncertified drone to just drop out of the air if it runs anywhere near to something important. In that case we can just put solar powered drone denying transmitters on anything. We don't want drones going near. Easy peasy.

The Red Bull video, I have asked Dutch Drone Gods before why they use analog on the downhill Valparaiso Cerro Abajo 2022 bike follow video in Brazil. They used relays to provide video on that one and were not able to do that with digital. Also was due to the interference it wouldn't provide good reception (had tested it). I think they are just more comfortable with analog and how the latency is. Pretty damn cool though following the car in the rain.

@@JDSchuitemaker I think you are correct on the latency and every millisecond counts. It may be also it is just comfortable for him as I see the same guy doing the piloting. I originally thought it may be the size of the unit and power output from analog is easier to deal with but with the newer digital systems that is not the case.

Another huge fail similar to the 'drone delivery' myth? "Self Driving" cars, taxis, etc. The Hype was bigger than the tech can deliver at the current time. The only way any autonomously navigating piece of machinery will be a safe and reliable thing, is for that technology to be able to sufficiently 'mimic' sentience. Anything less won't cut it. I believe that we are at least 15 years from this.
@David-yo5ws6 ай бұрын
I really think that the new tech cars should have a built in communication system that is developed by all the car companies, that uses some non-current operating system, to communicate between each other, such that there is no way any vehicle fitted with this system, can crash into each other. As the 'old cars' disappear off the roads (or get retrofitted with this system) , then eventually it would be rare for any accidents. Far more important than just having a self driving car. That would then start to lower car/truck insurance.

Anyone in the US can launch a unmanned uncontrolled weather balloon which are at least 20 times the size of a drone into space without any restrictions as long as the payload is under 3 ounces, but I can fly my 3 inch drone that is very controlled above 400 feet. These are the reasons why me and so many others just ignore the FAA rules on drones, the FAA is a big joke and until they can make reasonable rules and laws I and most other people will continue to ignore them.

That makes sense. I've used analog relays myself when flying in areas where I want to fly behind obstructions that would otherwise block the signal. In the US if you use aftermarket antennas on your FPV gear, and I think your control link too, you TECHNICALLY need to have an amateur(HAM) radio license as when those parts got their FCC approval it was only with the stock antenna. Assuming said parts got FCC approval to be sold, that is. But DJI, for example, does have FCC certification for their gear, which again would technically be voided if you use an aftermarket antenna, but having a HAM radio license allows you to continue to use it legally. So by that logic, if this bill is passed to revoke certification on all DJI products, couldn't you continue to keep using them if you had a HAM license?

Hey there sir, Long time Admirer of urs and long time user of ur advice and lessons. I wanted to speak about the ur question about the FRIA subject u brought up, and i wantes to mention that "Its Blunty" that pretty much does all the Production work for Joshua Bardwel now, actullly belongs to not flite test obviously, but the 1 u mentioned that has the Word Coalition in its title, decided to and apparently they also will help out anyone who would like to submit a FRIA to the FAA , but my main point is that JB attempted to get granted 1 but was rejected, that is up until "Its Blunty" decided to along with the Coalition behind him, cuz again he holds a position in the group, but anyways getting back to my point, unbeknownst to JB , He apparently was suprised to get another notice from the FAA which actually reversed their Decision so now Bardwels Property is a Permineant FRIA, though for JB since he has a 107 anyways, he isnt able to take advantage of it, unless of course he decides to fly for the fun of it, of which apparently he doesnt due very often , considering his and a "Its Bluntys " busy schedule doing 2 videos atleast a week and really JB in my opinion is an accet to this hobby , however i also maintain the idea that his channel and over all brand has become almost as if he is just phoning it in, or is jjst going thru the motions cuz really all his 2 shows are , is him sitting there for up to 3 hours while people send him money in which he does happen to answer curiously only a few questions from those of which cant afford to give a couple bucks. Especially for what i personally call a lack luster attempt at actually helping the questioners, and in some cases he seems to Ridicule some of the lesser valued amounts that i personally find very much disrespectful and part of the obvious problem that this hobby is having with keeping new comers interested and over all a sort of sense of snobery from more than a few of the so callee influencers. Please forgive my tangeant or my standing on my soap box, it was unintentianal, and I certainly wasnt refering to ur genuine efforts to help those of us in the hobby that even after almost 10 yrs still dont have a handle on what i honestly blame souly on myself and my not having any friends that apprently increase the chances of being able to figure out and learn much sooner than if u take on the hobby like I forced myself to do. And to be honest with you, ever since 2017 Ive become a victim to community stalking, or what others refer to as Gang Stalking which has all but destroyed my entire life as i once new it, that of which left me now with Severe PTSD , and a hidious case of OCD and Anxiety and flying used to be the only Therapy i used to get any relief from but these days i just cant muster the inner strength or can afford to keep up with the jones or even the smallest pieces of what this hobby takes in order try and just keep my birds in the air .. well anyways i humbly apoligize for going on and on, and i wanted to again express my thankx for all ur contributions.😊

A. The FAA is over regulating a toy that has never killed anyone, and the dangers of hobby/model/uav have been greatly overinflated. B. The FAA has done nothing to educate the public or require notice of requirement of licensing for toys sold at Walmart. C. RID opens a backdoor to our drones. D. Small aircraft, large aircraft, and satellites fall out of the sky without real rule changes that improve safety. E. Flight controllers and plane maintenance crews have been over worked and underpaid. F. One person has been harrased and fined more than Boing, and he never dropped dangerous mass. G. No one from the hobby was invited to the meetings. H. Several people voiced how bad these regulations were on the online discussions, and were ignored. I. People from our hobby showed up to the FAA headquarters to protest. And still nothing. J. The FAA charges us just to track us, press us, and deny us our own backyards to fly in. K. We have been pushed out of our hobby by an industry that may not exist in the next 20 years. L. This is slowing the development of real ways these toys can be used to help society on focusing on how they can help squeeze out food deliveries as an occupation. M. The will of the governed have not been heard, and the the corporate puppet masters push the tools of oppression on us, and at our expense. N. This is taxation without representation. O. RID is a serial device, and can be used to hijack your drone or pull data. Feels like search and seizure and property forfeiture--without probable cause. P. Despite the many videos of drone pilots being harrased, the FAA never fought for the rights of the pilots and left it to the pilots to defend themselves. Q. RID doesn't address any of the real threats we have seen on tv--planes falling apart midair, crashing on highways, or lost. R. Real causes of flight deaths are not being seriously addressed. S. Drone pilots are being villainized and pushed for causing no harm, or damage to property. T. The solution for real airplane crashes was to reduce the testing time for the student pilots exam--seriously. To my understanding this meets the qualifications of means motives and opportunity of a corporate insurgency to weaponize the FAA against its citizens.

RID isn’t going to work anyway, for a fairly cheap price, you can buy a board and with a bit of programming it can spoof RID. You could drop one near a major airport and they’d think there were a dozen or more drones broadcasting RID near the airport, when in reality the only thing in the air would be airliners .

Why you would issue a NOTAM (Notice To Air Mission now btw) is purely on the small, minuscule chance someone wants to land a helicopter or STOL plane there. You can land anywhere with your plane or helicopter you want to so long as you have permission from the land owner and can do so safely. I agree the stuff is stupid but that is why they do it. Its nothing more than a "hey there is some stuff happening over here so maybe avoid the are for training or something". I agree with the rest of the stuff but popping off on the fact they issue a NOTAM is nothing really tbh (from someone who issues NOTAMs on the regular).
@xjet6 ай бұрын
So it's only RC models/drones that don't have RID which pose a threat to helicopters? Remember, helicopter pilots won't have RID receivers, they won't be able to tell the difference betwen RID-enabled and non-RID-enabled models. Why would you need a NOTAM to fly without RID but not if you had RID?
@jnktechstuff46146 ай бұрын
@@xjetIts not the fear of a single one or two but the fact it would be an event that has MANY MANY drones flying around. It seems they are treating FRIAs almost like a lesser TFR. As a pilot myself I would not want to fly anywhere around an TFRIA, in a small C172 doing training for example engine out procedures we regularly shoot down to the minimums of 500 feet. You can also as I said land anywhere really in an aircraft I get where you are coming from but a NOTAM doesn't mean anything. It's literally just a "heads up" for pilots. I see many people confusing the "500 foot" rule and there is some more nuance to the rule that most people don't want to did around Part 91 to look at.
