Don, fantastic interview. Very well done and always informative. With regards to Critical Infrastructure - this is actually an important sticking point that TC or someone should refine in updates. Critical Infrastructure, defined nationally, includes Energy & Utilities (technically that's every structure of every utility), Information and Communication Technology (incredibly undefined but technically at least every major communication's provider's buildings & infrastructure), Finance (like you said, every bank, but also likely others), Health (every clinic, dentist, hospital, and more), Food (no farm flying), water (no pump station flying), transportation (no highways, but also technically no major roads), safety (no fire trucks or police stations), government (no government buildings be it city hall or a provincial facility), and manufacturing (no flying over places where they make stuff). I'm being deliberately vague, but only a little. Within public safety CI is being fleshed out, but the combination of TC's vague mention of CI & then PSC not clearly articulating who is isn't CI, it's incredibly unclear where people should and shouldn't fly. Not from a common sense perspective, but possibly through a regulatory or litigious perspective. This warrants a look & clarification.

A very interesting video that provided much important and relevant information to a community that has always been heavily dependent on aerial imagery and sensing. It's clear from a lot of online discussions that drones are increasingly being used to deliver GIS data. One thing that wasn't mentioned in the discussion about deterrents to drone ownership was the substantial cost to beginners of buying a reliable, approved drone. You made a very important point about drones potentially being a dangerous distraction. I can't help but think that a lawyer representing someone who suffered an accident resulting from distraction would suggest that the pilot had been negligent (CAR 900.06) in failing to take distraction into account.

Interested in this from the other way around - drone flying but interested in GIS/drone mapping/lidar type stuff. BeSpacial seems to be more East coast though and I'm in BC.

Hi Don, I have a DJI Mini 2, and I plan to buy a DJI Goggles 2: my question is can I fly a mini drone using the goggles 2 alone and if there is any rule or restrictions? Thank you

Sub250g drones are governed by only a few simple rules. So, as long as you are not doing anything stupid (eg, flying recklessly around people or planes), you can wear DJI Goggles with the Mini 2.

Hi Don, got a question about drone insurance : I bought DJI Care program but, it covers only Canada and US. I will be going to Jamaica soon, flying drone is permitted there but, what do you recommend as insurance in case my Mini 3Pro collides with a bird and be gone? Thank you.
