we’ll definitely be putting these in my ‘63 Kenskill. love this idea!

Yeah, they really do the trick, and they're super easy to make, even if you don't really know what you're doing like me!

I can SO relate to the shopping trip with your wife! Why buy something that I could make for so much less money ( not including time, tools and a couple of trips to the hardware store :-) ). It looks like Santa saw your wish list for the Kreg jig. Good job on the shades. The leather straps and hooks dress them up quite nicely.
@TrailerTrashtoTreasure3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I went ahead and made a long shade for the front window too, but I think it'll need an extra support in the middle so there's a bit of adjustment still to make.

Nice job on the window shades. I love to sew too. 🙂

They work really well surprisingly, but I do need to adjust the clips that hold them to the wall. I put them a bit too far apart 'cause I was in a hurry when I put them up.

Thanks for the tutorial! I'm going to try this in my 79 Chinook. Your link to the original diy tutorial isn't working at the moment - fyi!

No problem! Good luck on your project! I checked the link and it seems to be working ok - maybe try again. I'll try to put it here as well thehappyglamper.co/diy/roll-up-curtains/

I want to say we got them at Hobby Lobby, but I think you can get very similar ones at most hobby/fabric stores.

Great window shades. Can’t open the video tutorial. Any suggestions?

Thanks! Do you mean the link in the description? I just clicked it and it took me right to the blog post we got the information from. Maybe try again?

Man I’ve watched 38 videos and wondered 20 times why you don’t use a pocket jig. I have that same Kregs and used it building the rails around a 70 foot deck b
@TrailerTrashtoTreasure3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I should've bought one a long time ago, but it was pretty useful for building the walls on our next camper! Harbor Freight actually sells one that looks like it might actually be a bit heavier duty than the Kreg jig, but the Kreg works really well.

your leather straps how wide did you cut and length? mine our 1" wide 9 "length

I just did whatever was in the tutorial that we linked in the description, but I think it was basically that size. Wide enough to just fit through the d-ring, and long enough to wrap around everything with two extra inches to lap over and sew shut. Pretty simple really, you can't do it wrong.

Is there no heat in the camper?
@TrailerTrashtoTreasure3 жыл бұрын
Nope, but we don't really camp when heat would be an issue that couldn't be addressed by some wool blankets. I'm more concerned about keeping cool honestly.
@debracottrill79893 жыл бұрын
He has an awesome portable heater. It can be seen a few videos back. 🙂
@TrailerTrashtoTreasure Жыл бұрын
We did use a little electric space heater for camping in 20°F weather and it worked fantastically!

I always get a kick out of other people with the "I can make that" mentality. I often tell people I got into guitar building because I couldn't bring myself to spend $2000 on a good instrument, so instead I spent tens of thousands of dollars on tools and a shop.
@TrailerTrashtoTreasure3 жыл бұрын
Exactly! And of course you always tell yourself, "Well I'll use these tools for lots of things so over time the cost is irrelevant."
