Your fish at 4:16 is a Gray Tang - Also known as a Surgeon Fish (Acanthurus bahianus). Interesting to see him in open water like that. Usually they are on a reef. Most anybody that keeps saltwater fish has one of these or knows what it is.

Hey Brant! Came down from MD with my son for the grand opening weekend and had a blast! It was great meeting u and the other guys. We fished the piers all that week and I used a sabiki rig often. The only small baitfish I caught all week were those sand perch. I didn’t know what they were and I got several different answers from the local fishermen on whether they were good to use as baitfish. Hope u heal quickly btw.

@4:17 surgeonfish there are different varieties this one is very common usually in schools.. You will notice a dark 1/4" area on both sides of the base of its tail that is a spine or spur that retracts as it is now. When you catch one and grab it as fish do franticly shacking their tail, it draws and retracts it so it could cut you with it I have seen it happen.. If you grab it by the gills firmly you should be ok though pretty much anything can be eaten these fish are very thin and not worth it

4:15 that fish is most likely some type of tang or possibly a surgeon fish. I'm leaning more towards tang bc if it's body shape and size.

Quite clear water, and more interesting than fishing. Good to checkout sea life before dropping a line. That turtle was amazing. So many people go to the end of the pier when often there is more to catch where the waves break, as this shows. Always amazing to see how much more life is in the warm waters of the Gulf and FL coast than in the cold Pacific on the CA coast.

Something big passes under the camera at about 5:05, on the bottom to the right. Probably a shark. My guess is that the grey fish is a kind of chub. Cool video. It could be fun to put a chum bag out by a piling and see what comes in. Might as well put some bait out in the slick too.
