Plus, a trip to the Matco tool expo and the testing of a powerful coolant additive.

Imagine what this project would cost in time a labor not to mention the skills required to do it. I am addicted to this show because it reminds me of sitting in 8th grade reading Hot Rod Magazine dreaming about fast cars back in 1972. The projects in that magazine were as complicated as this show but they never showed anyone doing the work. Even with this show I have a feeling there is about another dozen guys doing all the work and perhaps these guys are just the talent for the camera. Might that be true? They do an excellent performance. This T-Bird is going to be unreal cool.

I always use a larger nut under my lug nut to hold the rotor in place . Less screwing on and off . I used a set of Summit roller rockers on a 302 I built and six of the snap rings that hold the shaft together broke tips off after the 500 mile break in . One of them got into the oil pump somehow . I had to remove and tear down the whole engine to find all six pieces . Trying to save $100.00 cost me about three hundred in parts and a whole lot of time . I'd NEVER use them again ! Also I used Felpro 1250 Intake gaskets and sprayed them with Permatex red gasket spray. From the onset I had a high RPM misfire and could not fix it. I thought it was in the wiring or ignition system . Later I tor the engine down and found that the number one intake runner was blocked off over 50% due to the gasket getting soft due to the spray and squeezing over . And the number two runner had two breaks in it; one at top RH and one at bottom LH . Don't spray them . It's recommended to glue them down , torque the heads on for a few hours and reset them . Didn't work for me .

Doing trans swaps like this isn't really a new thing, theres adaptor plates available to put Powerglides and Turbo 400's behind Ford and Chrysler engines. Some manufacturers even did it from the factory, like the Jaguar XJS came from the factory with a GM Turbo 400, and latter 4L60E.

@Alaska7506
@Alaska7506 4 жыл бұрын
I laughed when he said 72. 78 was the first year with rectangular headlights and newer style grille. I'm pretty sure only the custom models in 78 had round headlights with the newer style grille, and all the other models in 78 had the rectangular headlights, which looks just like the 79's. And 73 thru 76 didn't have a gas cap door for the rear tank covering the cap. And if they had 2 tanks, the front tank was behind the seat. So it's either a 78 or 79 it being a Ranger Lariat.

So fox body bbf swap headers and oil pan go in significantly better. Also you can use the stock 4r70w with an adapter plate. Granted having 4 gears and 4.10s wouldn’t be as ideal as the 6 speed but if you’re a weekender who gets a hold of a cheap bbf and wants a fun highway killer or red light racer this can be done on a lot cheaper budget.

Well I owned 18 Tbirds over about ten years. Most Sc`s but they have made a tubular K member that would have saved a lot of time and cutting. Point of information A coyote engine will not fit in these cars due to strut towers. The engine heads are just to wide to fit without cutting. Tim Teebo had a old Tbird that someone was able to do all the fab work to make one fit. For now all my birds are gone and I replaced it with a 727 2015 mustang GT. I will never go back but they are good cars and I will add that I never broke a bolt under the car as they used top notch bolts that never seized or rusted out and i`m from the rust belt.

If that small rear sump doesn't have an oil pick up, it's pointless in keeping it as oil will just sit there without recirculating, the excess dripping into the center section when full.

@@randomprojectsusa5196 ; You do realize you're contradicting yourself with that question? I guess you would prefer the old 5.0 from the 80's? Or a Chevy engine? This "Boss" 351 has a taller deck than the 5.0, which means the intake manifold and carb is going to be 1/2 foot above the hood line. I was referring to the T-bird body lines of 1989-1997 or 98, whatever the last year was. Not my favorite body. Nearly 10 years of the same ole style. I slept through most of it. A few years later, Ford reincarnated the 2 seater ugly ducking. I loved the 84-88 T-bird body. You just couldn't get the Mustang GT engine with it or any other T-bird for that matter.

Cobra Charmer I don’t understand your logic, a sleeper shares “sleep” in its name, they chose the Tbird because it will put you to sleep.

@@randomprojectsusa5196 ; "will put you to sleep." As in killing? Ah man, you're making me regurgitate my left over turkey sandwich. I'm not speaking Vulcan.There's no logic to it. The T-bird years I mentioned,is so blah, I personally fall asleep looking at it or thinking about it. You're the 1 crying about this particular T-bird not being a sleeper. No matter what you do to this model T-bird, it's still bland and boring, even with a 600+hp engine. Me personally, would rather see this engine installed in a 1988 T-bird Turbo coup. Just glad a Chevy engine wasn't installed because, Instead of sleeping, I'd probably die. Get it now? Hope Thanksgiving day was good for you. John

I'd would have put that engine in either a square bird 58-60 or roadsters 1961-63,or maybe2 seaters 1955-57,1997 wasn't really a T bird, just a 2dr glorified crown Vic.

I'm sure enough oil gets sloshed around as the car moves and as the oil drops down from the top of the motor. Plus with the 2 drain plugs it'll never be in there long as long as you keep up on oil changes.

To answer the question at 10:30, electric is the way to do this. A Tesla Model S P100D produces 588hp and 920 lb/ft of torque (available instantaneously, starting at less than 1 rpm) while still offering the equivalent of about 98 mpg city/highway average when driven "normally". The best of both worlds.

The occasional one to be a interesting conversation piece. To represent what man can do...great. But a whole world of them? No thanks. I dont want a watered down sanitized life.
