Thanks Luc, I agree.. almost all cordless tools have really made some leaps ans strides in the past 10 years.. they got cordless tools for nearly everything these days. The Milwaukee m18 saw worked good, I did all that cutting pretty much on one battery and never even had to use the stihl in this video 👍🏻

I have the Dewalt 16" Flexvolt chainsaw...took down a 40+ year old Walnut Tree with it....yep it took a while, cut for a few minutes then have to recharge the battery....once the tree was down though the saw worked great for its intended purpose, of cutting and limbing....would I use a battery powered saw for cutting down a tree normally, NO....but I just got the saw and the tree was dead so before I got out the old Echo 302S antiquish saw I figured what the heck I'd give the ole new tech a shot....it did it, but man it eats through the battery power very fast...its got the power alright. From a parts schematic it looks to be direct drive, no gears in it, so maybe it will hold up for a while. The saw is pretty well balanced, pretty heavy compared to those cheap corded versions...an aftermarket Oregon Bar & Chain are on my list to replacement items though for sure. For quick tree pruning tasks these battery powered saws are great, and for limbing they're great too, but to cut down a tree, ehh, I'll use my gas saw for that rather than waiting on batteries to charge LOL. Looks like the BX handled those logs really well, I didn't figure it would have the lift capacity to do so.

Thanks for the comment William, your 100% correct if you really needed to the battery saw could just about cut down anything (if you had enough battery’s and time) but they are bear used for bucking up wood, limbing, and cutting down smaller trees.. that’s where they really shine. Milwaukee makes a 12.0 battery I wanna get for it, that’s actually the correct battery for this saw and it works even better with them being that it can supply more amps/torque. These saws are direct drive I’m pretty sure.. the spur gear comes right off the motor shaft that spins the chain so your right it should be pretty long lasting as there isn’t many moving parts. The BX did a great Jon as always.. it’s amazing what kind of work it will do, I have another video I made about a month ago “moving monster logs” that’s a good one that shows the tractors capabilities also.. check it out I think you’d like it. You work that grapple like a pro. Seen a lot of vids where they end up pushing logs around more than picking them up. Good job. Now what about those stumps? Would be a lot of work for a BX backhoe, but a lot of fun too.

Biff here has an artillian trenching bucket / stump bucket. He's pretty boss at using it to extract stumps.

Thanks man I really appreciate it, I’ll tell you it was pretty tricky too cuz all the logs were facing down the hill and if I bumped them wrong they would just roll right down the hill and I’d look like an idiot so I was trying to be careful when I grabbed them haha.

As for the stumps I plan on buying a stump grinder to do most of them, I may dig a few of the smaller ones up but the larger ones I plan to grind with a 3 point hitch PTO stump grinder that I’ll hopefully be buying in the next month so stay tuned for that!

Thanks Steve! I'm not 100% sure on all their species but I'm pretty sure its mostly hard wood.. The Milwaukee chainsaw always seems to impress me.. Its amazing how far battery/cordless tool technology has come over the years.. Milwaukee and dewalt are by far the top dogs in the industry IMO. Thanks for watching!

The Milwaukee saw comes original with an Oregon bar and chain just branded with the Milwaukee logo, any reason you changed them? I’ve had the same saw for a couple years and love it!

I changed it because after about a year and a half my bar got punched and bent, and the chain had seen better days/. There are a few differences with the Oregon bar tho, it actually has a grease point on the spur on the end of the bar which is awesome, the Milwaukee didn’t have that to my knowledge, and I think there were a few other very small differences as well. As I said tho changed it out cuz it was getting pretty whooped. The Milwaukee cordless saw is a beast tho for sure, can’t wait till I get a few 12 amp hour battery’s for it to see what it really can do. Thanks for watching!

Did you use the stump bucket to remove those stumps? They’re larger than most stumps I’ve seen you remove. Do you ever wish you had a backhoe attachment?

I did use my stump bucket to remove at least half of the stumps to these trees.. if you watch my later videos after this video I think I start removing the stumps later on that summer and close to the fall.. I removed maybe 5-8 stumps last year and got most of them on video. A lot of them I removed when I got my new Artillian stump bucket with the added side teeth which is in the thumbnail of one of the videos.

As for a backhoe attachment I do wish I had one sometimes for sure.. but it’s not economical for me to buy one.. instead I plan to save my money and buy a mini excavator, like a bobcat E20 or something similar through Kubota.. hoping if not this summer then next summer I’ll buy one.

Hey Ron thanks for asking as I forgot to mention it at the end of the video, the Milwaukee was the only saw I used, I only used one battery pretty much to cut all that wood, I was doing consecutive cuts so the first battery overheated so I switched to the second one and finished the rest of the cuts, at the end I checked the battery levels and both 9.0 battery’s were only at 1/2% so basically I did all that with one 9.0 battery. This Milwaukee saw is an awesome tool, Iv been very happy with it

I like the grapples....but unless you are a large landowner or in the tree business, it is hard to justify the expense when trees and limbs can be moved for a small investment. Most of the guys I see on youtube with gapples seem to just move trees and debris from one pile to another pile...I just don't see the need for that...do away with it and then there is not need to keep moving around...unless you just want to use the grapple.

I feel grapples are one of the best tractor tools in modern time! Def well worth the money though the ones I use are quite expensive. You can buy ones from other aftermarket company’s tho such as land pride and spend a lot less money which may make it more worth it for a guy who doesn’t have a ton of uses for it. Grapples are great for anyone who does side work like you said but also for anyone who has a lot of land they need to maintain.. as there are always trees that blow over or limbs that break off and there’s always some set amount of yard cleanup you need to do each spring and things like that.. now could you get by with out one? Sure.. but dang is it nice to be able to grab whatever you want and securely carry large loads where before you’d have to use a set of pallet forks or a bucket to load sticks and branches into by hand before loosely carrying them away. @@BiffsEquipment I don't disagree...but I don't think most people can justify the expense for what they have to do as they can do it for near no investment. I have a decent amount to do but I can take care of mine with about $300 invested and it does a good job and doesn't take that long to do it. If I were in the business of handling debris, I would certainly have the grapple...in that situation, time is money.
