I live and knit in Southern Ontario with my husband and my terrier. The name kuriaknits comes from my last name - Kurian. Kurian has Indian and Syrian origins and I feel lucky every day that my husband shared it with me.

The hospital asks about religion because sometimes there are certain restrictions that some religions have and they want to respect your belief.

OMG - your illness story is scary! I'm so sorry that you had that experience (and, as a fellow Canadian, I can only imagine how worried you are to confirm that the insurance has been applied). How wonderful that you made it home safely and that you are doing better now. Perhaps your system is exhausted after weeks of travel and the original (maybe only) bout of covid. Stay well and knit. Thank you for sharing your story. xo

Loved seeing all of your knits today! Your yarn choices are absolutely exquisite! I am currently working on maybe a few too many projects at the moment - most of them involving lots of cables. I saw that you recommended the Scotch Mist by Thea Colman as an alternative all-over cabled sweater and I actually just cast that one on not too long ago for myself! I'm loving the cables so far! I'm glad to hear that you are feeling better, being sick is already bad enough but being sick in another country all by yourself sounds so, so awful! I hope everything turns out okay with the hospital bills and such! Looking forward to your next episode!

I'm so glad to see tat you're well now, that would have been such a scary ordeal! I am still so in love with your fishermans rib mohair, it's stunning! I'm currently casting on a fingerless mitt as a swatch to see if my idea will work, so hopefully by your next update, I'll have an update of my own! :P

Fascinating to hear about the American medical system from a Canadian! They ask your religious preference because some religions do not accept blood transfusions. So glad you're ok! That sounds really scary.

Really enjoyed watching your podcast, so sorry for your illness and hospitalisation. Very traumatic especially on your own and in another country too. I agree that pattern designers need to write patterns to fit every body shape. The old patterns I have from the 80's and 90's went up to a 38/40 inch bust! Incredible really - people must have been way smaller back then. I knit everyone in my family a gift last year - I started in July and finally finished on Christmas Eve which was very stressful. I'm not doing it EVER again! I'm happy to knit for them but not for Christmas - way too much pressure. Good luck with your gift knits, don't get to overwhelmed. Xxx ❤️

Oh my goodness - 38/40 inches!? I couldn’t do those patterns 🙈 Knitting so many gifts Is definitely ambitious! I’m glad you’re having a less stressful lead up to Christmas this year lol

I only just followed you on Instagram, that sounds like such an overwhelming and scary ordeal you went through! I have no words, that’s massive and it’s the kind of thing where if I knew you in real life I would just silently bring over some soup. I am glad you made it through safely! And your snow crocus is beautiful! I also have some Knitting for Olive silk I bought during their Ukraine fundraiser. Will be interesting to see how my rowing out goes - I actually took up combination knitting a couple of years ago after getting very upset with my rowing out with reverse stockinette in Continental. My English knitting is more consistent, but somehow it didn’t occur to me to go back to it!

You look great! So happy you’re feeling well again. About your crocus sweater neckline, wondering if you used same size needles as the body or if you sized down for the ribbed funnel neckline… I love a funnel neckline, but still working on my first sweater, a summertime cotton lace cardi that seams 3 sections together. Thank you for sharing!!

Enabler here, Sandnes Garn Line is 15% of at Galt House of Yarn right now! You're welcome. 😁 I have ordered MANY times from Wool Warehouse and never been charged duties. I live in Paris, Ontario and I went to Woolstock last year. It was awesome! They have classes and lots and lots and lots of yarn. I don't know if I am going this year...I have SO much yarn and I am afraid that I would buy tons more! However, with it being 5 minutes from my house....who knows? 😉

Oh no this sounds awful and scary, especially when you are travelling alone. So glad you are okay! I actually had a very bad health day that same exact saturday where I had to have a taxi pick me up from my hike due to unexpected period cramps. Glad I was hiking with my dad but very sad I had to put him through this experience... (I might have thrown up right next to someones driveway at some point, whoops) Anyways, absolutely loved your video as always :)

How scary for you...to be so ill and in a different country. You must have felt a bit of relief crossing the border on the way home. I've ordered from Wool Warehouse 3x now and never been dinged for duty, etc., not saying it couldn't happen though. Plus their shipping charge is so minimal! In my latest order I had won a £10 gift certificate, so I guess I'll have to buy more yarn 😄. I'm pretty sure there was a Woolstock last year. I remember wanting to go but I was still a bit tentative to go out to a crowded event.

I hate being sick, feeling sick, thinking about it mainly because I had a week in ICU 10 years ago. The hospital system is free here in Australia for citizens, thank Gd. Yes they ask for religious affiliation, just encase we could be religious. I'm a Early Medievalist. Sydney University. The Medieval Dept has been included into a general History dept..so sad, no funding is seen necessary here apparently to study medieval history. My area of study is Spain 711 to 1031 ce, looking into Convivientia in al Andalusia. My KZbin podcast is Barbara Radzevicius Bondi Crafter. Covid is a controversial topic here.. I'm a Medievalist. Best wishes with your PhD research. I'd like to hear more about your area of expertise and the University experience where you are there.

I have to say that My favorite things knitwears is not inclusive for petite size neither, I have a 32’’ bust and when the smaller size is 42’’ finished bust.. I mean, I don’t always want 10’’ of positive ease ! also 32’’ is at my largest so there’s much more positive ease with my waist ( which is 27’’) so sadly, not for me 🥲

It’s a term used in the body acceptance community to talk about people who are “midsized” or around a size 10-14. It acknowledges fat as something you have and a neutral descriptor. I definitely have been perceived as fat and I have been bullied into adulthood for it 🙃

Have you seen the hospital bill yet? Do you have to pay for that or does your health insurance cover it? Sorry to be so nosy but that story was so incredibly scary and I've been wondering whether it will have any "long-lasting" negative effects on you...

It has not yet been resolved! Supposedly, our insurance provider is going to pay it, but they haven't yet and don't really have answers for us. Hopefully it will be done soon.
