Drowning one of the World's Best Freedivers! Fun in the Philippines!

When one of the world's best freedivers asks you to run a pool training session for them, what do you do? You smash them haha! Our friend Thibault Guinnes is one of the best freedivers in the world but he has never trained in the pool so we had to show him what he was missing out on.
After a brief trip from the Philippines back to Australia I was back in Panglao to keep training. This year I have a lot more time to dive than I have had in the past and so I'm working on doing deep hangs. Going down reasonably deep and just hanging there for 1 minute or so. The dives have been feeling really nice!

Really cool, entertaining and funny video (as usual i would say)! Pool is no joke! Seems that only Thibault didn't know that! ahahah! Just a little downside...I think Dean (great athlete as he is) should still secure himself on training dives too and wear a Lanyard! We all know more than one sad stories about training runs ending badly due to things like that... Be an example, dive deep, stay safe and enjoy guys! Peace

Thanks for the practical training advice, Adam. I'll have to adapt this to my morning pool regimen once this zombie apocalypse is over. I have had a difficult time just reaching 50 meters with fins.

Oh the dad guilt. I've had my share in the military. Those are the worst flights and it never gets any easier :) But on a positive note, your baby's cuteness is absolutely legendary!

You really need nothing to start with as long as you have a nice spot to do it, which really depends on where you live. But there are still pools.

The deepest a scuba diver has been was 350m :) But they had to use a mix of different gasses. For scuba it's to do with the effects of breathing gasses under the pressure of water :)

Hi Adam, To further the research, I would like to "challenge you" to advance this research experiment. To propose a hypotheses: is our understanding of the environment more important than the advanced breathold techniques or swimming techniques? Or in psych terms, is our ability to perform (behaviours) subject to the containment we feel from the environment. Or to wax philosophically lyrical, nature or nurture? PS as background, see: "Video Interactive Guidance" (VIG) used by the UKs NHS to train nurses in the surgical environment. NB I feel this would be a good challenge for you, because you are a natural edutainer and want to empower people through making learning simple. Be a dad and an educator, are they not the same skillset? Though I'm bias, your videos are bril, more plz ;)
