My doctor said he is considering putting me on BP medication. However I am hesitant as I would like a little more time on Keto to see if BP can continue to improve. I heard that study you cited mention one year as good measuring point.

Of course everything I share is just for educational purposes but with your blood pressure in the ranges you just shared I can’t see any logical reason why you would need to take medication with the potential of side effects when you’ve achieved so much with your keto dietary change. Always remember that lifestyle changes should be the first step followed by medicine. Clinician tend to start medication to soon not giving lifestyle changes time to work Congratulations!!!

I was diagnosed as hypertension. My Dr. Had me on beta blocker metoprolol, amlodipine and lisinopril, I was having low bp readings and light headedness. My cardio finally took me off amlodipine but, it really didn't improve. Then he reduced my lisinopril by 10 mg but, since I went keto/ carni, I was still experiencing low bp and dizzyness. I finally stopped takeing lisinopril and just relied on metroprolol becase as a heart patient, I can't stop taking the beta blocker however, my bp numbers have moved closer to normal instead of really low. Occasionally, I'll test at or around 140/66 in the morning but, it's been better than before.

Since being keto, I lost 20 lbs and I am now in a healthy weight range. My BP is 135/90 with medication that I take daily. I'm a bit frustrated because I believe I'm doing everything that 8 should be doing to lower my BP naturally. I expressed my frustrations with my doctor during my last visit and she is going to refer me to an endocrinologist because of my high LDL cholesterol, and another IM Dr for my BP

I think you’re doing a great job although it never hurts to get a second opinion. Nothing that you shared concerns me. Healing our vascular system sometimes takes time. And it definitely takes longer to reverse hypertension then it does to reverse conditions like type two diabetes So make sure your doctor looks for those conditions I talked about at the end of the video but if nothing is found just give it more time As it relates to the LDL cholesterol I would review the video in the show notes I recommend you consider a coronary artery calcium score test, LDL particle sizes, Apolipoprotein B/A ratio, and a fasting insulin level to determine your risk for cardiovascular disease The LDL cholesterol has a little value if not differentiated into particle sizes

Thanks so much for this video. What if I'm not on hypertension medications. My blood pressure averages 163/93. I was on Lisinopril and Amlodipine. My doctor took me off Lisinopril and I weaned myself off of Amlodipine because it makes pressure on my head severely and it feels like there is something constantly crawling around in my head. That feeling was very unnerving. I started taking some herbs and drinking hibiscus tea, Flor de Menita tea, Sarsaparilla tea, and sea moss. My pressure has come down from 185/100, but if I don't take those herbs it is up. I was eating fruit every day, brown rice, mostly fish, salad, and vegetables. I've had an autoimmune disease for over 25 years. I started Dr. Sebi's alkaline diet and it changed my life, it ended the chronic fatigue and pain (I was diagnosed with polymyositis) I had chronic fatigue and muscle weakness for that long. The muscle mass loss and weakness that caused me to lose strength in certain areas of my body are still with me. I've been remaining weak and my blood pressure is always high. I started on the carnivore diet 3 days ago and looking forward to seeing what happens with the blood pressure. This video was extremely helpful and I am eager to see how it comes down with the change of diet. Thanks, this has been more than my doctor has ever shared with me. He is reluctant to increase the medication ( which is already high) because he feel much worse, very light headed etc when medication increases. Sorry to be rambling on..but I am low carb because of insulin resistance..and wondering..is there a correlation between high blood pressure and high blood sugar. If there is, I might be able to get him to reduce fruit . He’s slim but has a sweet tooth.

07:02 . Does this almost seem to suggest that a spike in blood pressure after a bolus of sodium is just physiological? It often confuses me when I hear/see that alcoholics, smokers, and/or Average American Dieters have HTN. I wonder if the hypertension is actually an appropriate response to super high sodium and/or alcohol. I mean if they correct as soon as the diet does... I suppose there may be a significant group that doesn't show an acute blood pressure change, one way or the other.
@DrTonyHampton2 жыл бұрын
It is true that some people whose hypertension has existed for years may struggle to have the physiological improvements necessary to reduce their blood pressure, but that’s rare It’s also true that it typically takes a little longer for the blood pressure to reverse compared to what quick responses for the blood sugar And as you can imagine there are many factors that raise your blood pressure including lack of sleep or stress therefore it’s important for people to think about the totality of lifestyle changes as they work on their blood pressure

I am so happy that you’ve been successful with so many aspects of your health using the carnivore diet. For some people it take longer to heal their blood vessels, and that may be your story But it’s also important to think about causes of secondary hypertension So make sure that your clinician has looked into these other areas before assuming that you need more time with carnivore Here are some things to consider and of course you can search secondary hypertension so that when you see your clinician, you both can come up with a plan Here is the list Aldosteronism Cushing syndrome Hyperparathyroidism Pheochromocytoma Kidney disorders Thyroid disease Obstructive sleep apnea Kidney disease Obesity Adrenal Renovascular hypertension Alcohol abuse Aortic coarctation Endocrine disease Medication side effects

I do feel sometimes slightly pain in my pancreas area but I always thought it’s because I exercise like crazy. But C-peptide from pancreas was good before and now on carnivore is even better. How can I check my blood vessels, is there any treatment you will suggest, maybe CAT scan? My fasting insulin is 5 so it’s not like insulin irritate my blood vessel.
