Good food is medicine Bad food needs medicine. If you sell medicine you you want people to have bad food. Like general motors definitely wanted people living in the suburbs so they're outside the range of public transportation. I'm not positive but I'm guessing general motors and Ford et al probably promoted housing that requires a car to commute. Drugstores sell mad candy.

4 years ago I was bringing communion to a homebound elderly woman whose diabetic son was facing dialysis. I tried to share the need to change their diets (big bowls of candy might not be healthy), she became defensive and told me not to come back. Within a year she had died. Today I saw her son (minus both legs) all edematous from kidney failure in the hospital. He recognized me. I doubt he recalled my health teaching but I could only shake my head at how quickly they both had failed. Our ‘health care’ system is so broken. I see Pepsi and Ginger ale on lunch trays in the hospital!

I have explained this to my family and friends to no avail. They are slaves to their food addictions and lack the will to even try for 30 days. They also argue that keto/carnivore will kill them and that the anthropological and archealogical evidence does not support such a way of eating (denial) by stating mortality rates and life expectancy over past history (more denial). They also refuse to understand how modern agriculture and transportation has made it so easy to eat foods such as fruit, grain or vegetables as often as one wants and as many days of the year as one wants, when in nature things such as fruit and berries and grains are only seasonally available and of limitedd supply during said season. Not to mention the copius amount of chemicals applied to such things.

Thank you Dr. Hampton!! I'm a strict CARNIVORE, into my 3rd year. No meds. My metabolic health is great. I wish I'd known about this excellent way of eating 30 years ago. My VA Dr. won't give me a straight answer about getting a CAC test without doing many other tests. I have no symptoms, I just want to see where I stand with my heart arteries. I finally just said, I'll go outside the VA for this test.

@nancygorham5908 - I have been keto for 8 years. At age 70, my only issue is familial cholesteraemia; my LDLs/HDLs are high (ratio 2:1), but CRP and triglycerides are very low. I asked my doctor if a CAC test was necessary. He said that in my case, he can get a reliable indication of blood vessel health by inspecting the arteries of the neck (a simple carotid ultrasound), which gives him enough information to decided if a CAC test is necessary. (I live in Germany, which may have different medical guidelines to the USA).
@MyChilepepperАй бұрын
@@nancygorham5908 go for it but be prepared for the imaging/scan place to request for your doctor’s order and they would insist you give a reason why you need a CAC. I did mine (cost $120) with the STRICT imaging center and had to wait over an hour until they got hold of an “order” from my dr. over the phone and faxed to them which cost another $40 at the other end. It’s a racketeering.

Improved high blood pressure, my stage four kidney disease is now stage 3. And my kidney doctor still won’t look into the carnivore diet. She actually told me no when I asked her to. You are on the right side of history Dr. Hampton and helping many with your diet advice. Myself and my child started on GAPS which turned into carnivore because our symptoms were worse with the plants. Lion diet gave us the best healing. Now we can have specific, low oxalate, low carb foods once in awhile. We both have oxalates coming out of us. Oxalate crystals came out of my skin by my temple just before seeing this video. They are sharp. Some low oxalate, low carb foods give us bad gut symptoms. So, we don't eat those ones. Dense fibre seems to be the worst offender. Onion is my favourite, non - carnivore treat and neither of us want it all the time. Plain meat is so good.

Assuming there was a massive shift toward keto-style food choices, how will that food be supplied. Our food-supply infrastructure, from farmer/rancher is complex. Increasing the amount of meat protein -- particularly if you want grass-fed -- requires huge changes in land use and resource allocation. Economies of entire regions of the country are based on growing carbs and can't change. I'm not being a naysayer, but i think we should to start contemplating what the total ecosystem of Make America Healthy Again will cost to achieve.

I tried carnivore and felt very sick. Then I went keto and didn’t feel good either. My issue that may have contributed is my food allergies. I can’t have gluten (no problem with those diets), no dairy (there goes all the cheese in about every keto recipe), allergic to asparagus, spinach, cauliflower, all squash except zucchini, and kale. (I have others that cause health symptoms to increase). So I couldn’t even make cauliflower rice or pizza crust. Just eating cabbage, broccoli, some lettuce types, radish and zucchini was rough. I would get so dizzy I had to hang on the walls to walk. My heart would skip beats. I used electrolytes, but I can’t have artificial sweeteners except a little bit of stevia here and there. I ended up going low carb. The diet plan says for my body I could have 131 or less but I try to stay under 100. I focus on high protein, but that little extra piece of fruit or a small potato every day made a difference for me. I started craving apples and peanut butter. So a treat would be peanut butter on sliced apple. I had autoimmune issues before I landed on low carb that have improved symptoms, but not healed. I wish I could go all in, but with limitations in food choices made it hard. Any suggestions?

What foods are considered ketogenic
@DrTonyHamptonАй бұрын
Ketogenic foods are those that are low in carbohydrates and high in healthy fats, with moderate protein. These foods support a state of ketosis, where the body primarily burns fat for fuel instead of carbohydrates. Here’s a breakdown of ketogenic-friendly foods: 1. Healthy Fats • Oils: Olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, MCT oil. • Butter and Ghee: From grass-fed sources if possible. • Animal Fats: Tallow, lard, duck fat. • Whole Avocados: High in heart-healthy fats. 2. Proteins (Moderate) • Meat: Beef, lamb, pork, and other fatty cuts. • Poultry: Chicken thighs, drumsticks, and skin-on poultry. • Fish and Seafood: Salmon, mackerel, sardines, shrimp, and shellfish. • Eggs: Whole eggs from pasture-raised sources. • Organ Meats: Liver, kidney, and other nutrient-dense options. 3. Low-Carb Vegetables (Primarily Non-Starchy) • Leafy Greens: Spinach, kale, arugula, and Swiss chard. • Cruciferous Vegetables: Broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, and cabbage. • Other Low-Carb Veggies: Zucchini, cucumbers, asparagus, bell peppers, and mushrooms. 4. Dairy (If Tolerated) • Cheese: Cheddar, mozzarella, cream cheese, Parmesan, etc. • Creams: Heavy whipping cream, sour cream. • Full-Fat Yogurt: Unsweetened, plain varieties. 5. Nuts and Seeds (In Moderation) • Nuts: Macadamia nuts, pecans, walnuts, almonds (small amounts). • Seeds: Chia seeds, flaxseeds, sunflower seeds, and pumpkin seeds. • Nut Butters: Almond butter, macadamia butter (unsweetened). 6. Beverages • Water: Plain, sparkling, or mineral water. • Coffee and Tea: Unsweetened, with optional heavy cream or MCT oil. • Broths: Bone broth or homemade stock. 7. Sweeteners (Occasionally) • Sugar-Free Options: Stevia, erythritol, monk fruit. 8. Miscellaneous • Coconut Products: Coconut milk, coconut cream, unsweetened coconut flakes. • Spices and Herbs: Basil, oregano, turmeric, garlic, etc. (avoid blends with added sugar). • Dark Chocolate: 85% cocoa or higher (in moderation). Foods to Avoid on Keto • High-carb foods like bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, sugary snacks, fruit (except small amounts of berries), legumes, and most processed foods.

A lot more research ought to be done on DT2. I ate absolutely zero carbs for 8 month and felt great. All of a sudden I felt as though I am having a sugar let down. I was so confused. Within the next weeks it kept getting worse. A very miserable feeling! Thank heavens I came across new info. Gluconeogenesis does not work the same in each individual and actually is not at all reliable in older folk who have had carbs all their lives. The lack of glucose in the blood causes stress hormones to go out of control. That's where the sugar letdown comes from. I now eat 100 g of carbs mostly in the a.m. and feel much better. Everybody has to listen to his own body and make the best decisions for himself.

I was strict keto before it was “cool”. Keto for 5 years. Result was that my testosterone tanked, my sleep was awful and my competitive running suffered. My fasting glucose was always a little high. The saturated fat gums up your insulin receptors and therefore the glucose from your liver just floats in your blood. I went to 50% good carbs, 30% protein and 20% fats. Living proof that carbs are not the enemy. All my blood markers are excellent now. My sleep is good and I have restored my running performance. Plus I now enjoy food again. Appreciate that feedback The KZbin algorithms are tricky, and I’m trying to balance creating a thumbnail that make you wanna click on it while making sure that thumbnail reflects the ideas shared in the video I definitely don’t wanna be a click bait type influencer
