The plaintiff says the defendant is her drug-addicted mother. She’s suing her for impound fees and the value of a watch. The defendant admits she made bad choices and became addicted to crack, but she’s struggling to get clean. She denies owing her daughter anything.

My mom was addicted almost alllll my life and finally got it right... I admire everything she went thru in order to make her the woman she is today... I constantly tell her how proud of her I am... Change is possible if you truly want it... My daddy raised us and he did a phenomenal job and he and my brother have since passed away but the spirit of them will live thru me...

A lot of times, addicts have a difficult time on the road to recovery because of strong feelings of guilt and shame. For some of the commenters below, you can count yourselves as belonging to that part of the problem, rather than supporting the solution. Read through and examine a lot of the comments of "she's pitiful,", "she should be ashamed", etc. You vilify the addicts more than you vilify the dope dealers (inclusive of the street dealers, cartels, and governments, etc.). At least give equal time to the people who profit from the drug trade. Let them have some of your expressions of disgust and hatefulness.

I can totally relate to her experiences because both of my parents were "crack addicts". I would be so embarrassed by them especially my mother and the jokes they would say to me and my siblings. I overcame that situation in my life by finishing school and getting a trade in Manufacturing and now I'm doing much better than yesterday for my wife and two children. I'm too blessed to be stressed

Prayers for the mother and her daughter. Drug addiction is a powerful, life-threatening stronghold that's not easy to subdue. Judge Mathis extended grace and some compassion to the mother because she was at least honest. The rehab update was positive, so there's always hope for healing.

I’m torn about this case. Everything the mother said was terrible but I can see that deep down she is a good woman and an interesting/funny character. I’m so happy that she did the right thing in the end and I really hope that she repairs her relationships with her children. They deserve it.
