The NYM Curl Talk deep conditioning mask is so good but I find a lot of the other NYMCT line to be very drying. The Twist oil turns my hair into an instant grease pit but I think NYM has a new oil out that looks intriguing. Also Cantu has a Super Shine Hair Silk Serum that works well for me. Affordable Curl Creams that are moisturizing I’ve found are SGX NYC Curl Power, Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie, and Cantu Curl Activator Cream. Dove Moisture and Shine Gel is a nice affordable gel that is great for humidity. Just adding my two cents for engagement. Congrats on the milestone!

Some of the NYM Curl Talk products have protein, maybe that’s why it’s drying to your hair, as for the deep conditioner, there’s no protein!
@OpalMoonstone2475 ай бұрын
@@cvma2430I heard there's very little protein actually but lots of moisture. I'm going to swap my conditioner for that one while continuing to use the NYM CT Bonding shampoo.

@nicolekerlin61853 жыл бұрын
I'm honestly just looking for a new shampoo I can use regularly. My hair is fine but I have a lot of it. And I want my hair to feel clean and not super oily, some brands like Love Beauty & Planet have made my hair feel really oily afterwords and I just need something that won't be drying but won't be super heavy like that either. So maybe I should try the Pacifica Pineapple curls one. I wash my hair once ever 2 or 3 days. If that one doesn't work out idk what I'm gonna do tbh
@tabithagingerich3 жыл бұрын
Try that one or the nym curl talk one.. that one cleans well but it’s not drying!

I've been experiencing a bad or altered batch of all my good products a LOT lately. I've been devoted to cgm or wgm for a year and a half. 2b/c here. I love the Curl Talk line too, but the cream just doesn't hold for me on its own. They discontinued my sea salt texture spray from OGX which was great in conjunction with the NYM leave-in conditioner. (Tried NYM Beach Babe dead sea salt spray but it destroyed my hair; my skin and hair don't mesh well with dead sea salt or minerals.) But I recently also switched over to Maui Moisture (blue) Coconut milk conditioner for detangling purposes and it's extra greasy, this recent batch. The last had zero slip. Before that one, it was balanced. Everything is changing. It's ridiculous. I really want to just stick to what works, but I also have very hard water and live in the deep South Texas humidity and heat, so every wash is going to be different. It's super frustrating. I haven't cut my hair in 3 years. And won't for a while. But if I could find a detangling rinse, that would be great. Was alternating with NYM Curl Talk bonding shampoo and conditioner which is great, but the shampoo can be very toxic- the fragrance I mean. Otherwise, it's excellent. I'm still struggling. Yes, I plop, diffuse, all that. but the detangling is a pain since I have a bad back. And when I style, I style upside down flipped over. I guess I need to explore more options. Thinking of trying Curlsmith volume line. Or Eva NYC. I really just want a good one and done curl cream with great hold(Cake Beauty is too greasy as it contains Shea butter and it doesn't work for my hair either). But OGX changed their formula and it's crap now. Very frustrating with all these formula changes or bad batches. My hair seems to come out more stringy lately when it used to spiral a lot more. I don't want to waste any more money. (High porosity, medium density, Caucasian Irish hair 🤷🏻♀️) Do you experience things like this?

Hi Tabitha, first of all congratulations on your subscribers! Secondly watching videos like these gets me super overwhelmed because I dont know which product to use in what step. I would like a very basic video talking about the steps of styling curly hair and mentioning what kind of products are appropriate for each step without talking about specific products. Because I see people using different products for different purposes and since there are so many kinds of them, cream, mouse, spray, gel etc. A basic routine would really help out. If you already have a video on that can you please link it here? Thanks it will be much appreciated!

hi tabitha! i have a weird 2a hair type but my hair coils into a loose spiral at the ends. ive been blowdrying my hair my whole life and only recently stopped. what shampoos, conditioners, and products can i use to define them?
@erik76472 жыл бұрын
Hi! So I have hair like this too, it tends to get poofy at the top, waves down and then coils at the bottom. I have very fine wavey hair that is extremely prone to breakage and some is dyed. I find my hair isn't supporting the weight of the curls, so I try to make sure to really get any build up off. I like to use the L'Oreal jojoba mask for conditioner, I find the specific one she mentioned too heavy on my hair. I find scrunching it definitely helps and be super gentle when toweling it off. I also will do sections and twist it up when it's drying if I have time. For leave in stuff I really like the john Frieda curl cream, it's cheap and it works. Also just straight up jojoba oil works best. I find with all that the curls go most of the way up, and more wavey in the back and top but looks really nice. The biggest thing I find is using less products helps a lot with the weight and keeping definition. Also before I wash my hair I detangle with oils and conditioner, for that I will use a heavier one and then twist into buns. Then in the shower when I'm ready to wash it I take it out and wash as usual. I find my hair gets a lot softer this way and also stays defined longer. When it's drying if make sure to section off the waves and curls and let it set that way. Helps the top retail it's shape

I have type 2 hair and it’s so anoyying I really hate it !!! I’m using shea moisture shampoo and conditioner and my hair Is so dry and brittle, and I style it soaking wet like everyone says to do, but my hair takes so long to dry and I have no time to air dry it!! And whenever I use a diffuser it doesn’t dry it and makes it frizzy it might just be my cheap hair dryer. So I leave with my hair wet and it’s frizzy and flat and gross. Do you have any recommendations?!
@OpalMoonstone2475 ай бұрын
You should invest in a better diffuser and keep the settings on low warm. The Revlon one is not expensive. It comes with the diffuser attachment. It's the pearl white one that's around $30 at Walmart. It also has a protective screen around the back of the motor. Maybe the current products you're using aren't right for your hair type either. I suggest doing more research to find out what ingredients to avoid or look for based on your hair type. I'm so sorry you're struggling.😢 Do you scrunch your wet hair, with the products added, with a cotton T-shirt first before diffusing? Shea moisture can be very heavy for type 2 hair depending on the ingredients. I think you'll find Not Your Mother's products to be a better bet for you, particularly if you start with the Curl Talk leave-in conditioner spray/heat protectant followed by the gel. My hair takes forever to dry as well. It's also very dry, but I think you may benefit from a protein shampoo and hair mask, particularly the bonding ones from NYM. Don't give up, please!

The shea moisture mask does not have a lot of protein in it … I wouldn’t use it if I had protein overload but I also wouldn’t reach for it for a protein mask it has yogurt as the protein and it’s like halfway down the ingredient list and then a hydrolyzed vegetable protein way on the bottom of the ingredient list butttttttt it still is an amazing mask I just wouldn’t say it has a lot of protein or even consider it a protein mask
