Beth, first, I love 💕 your new opening to your videos! Second, I’ve vacillated between subscribing and not, as I have felt you seem to lean towards higher end clothing etc, which fixed incomes can’t afford. Today’s video was wonderful and I appreciate the price point attention! Thank you 🙏🏻 for such an informative video!

I have been doing the skin care routine from my teens. when I was short for money, I always bought a moisturizer. Now that I am in my sixties, I have started using the extras like the vit C, the serums and the retinols. I also take good supplements and eat a clean diet.

My mom pushed washing and moisturizing in my teens also. I too was a Noxema girl and I used Oil Of Olay in the pink bottle w/the black top -oh and Bonnie Bell’s ten-O-six it was a type of toner. I’d sneak into my mom’s stuff occasionally but she’d always find out somehow. 😊

I used Noxema cream to wash my face as a teenager, and I still do. It is non-greasy, has a nice, fresh scent, and cleans well. I also use Cetaphil Extra-Gentle Daily Scrub in the morning, in the shower, and Cetaphil hydrating eye gel cream at night, under my eyes. That's about it, except for choosing a BB cream with SPF in it as my daily makeup foundation.

The order of product layering is serum, moisturizer, retinol at night or then sunscreen in morning. The vitamin C serum never goes on over the sunscreen. Otherwise, good info.

I understand the common approach these days is to put sunscreen on last. You can even dust sunscreen over makeup or spray with a mist. But my Dermatologist said it doesn’t really matter. I’m certain there are other Dermatologists that would disagree. His philosophy was to put sunscreen on. That’s the important step. These days, so many of our skincare products also add SPF so it’s a nice layer upon layer.
@janeseemann25273 жыл бұрын
@@BethDjalali I think the point is, is that you work from least occlusive to most. The serums simply won’t penetrate through the sunscreen.

My mom actually started me on skincare regime when I was 13. I remember going to the Clinique counter and getting the basic line, soap, toner, and moisturizer. I’ve been religious about my morning and evening skin care ever since then. I’m going to be 42 in about 2 months but I still have people thinking I’m in my 30s. Also, a huge benefit to keeping that skin looking radiant is drinking plenty of water, taking a good collagen complex with all 5 types of collagen and take your vitamin c and omega 3.

I use Retin A on my face. But my neck is another story. I have sensitive skin. It took my quite a while to wear the Retin A every night. I use sunscreen religiously living in Georgia. I think I’m going to try the one you mentioned. I need something with more SPF. I have told my granddaughters to always wash their face. They were suffering with acne. So I know they do wash their faces. I don’t think they use moisturizer or sunscreen. But I’m always telling them they should. I didn’t start until my thirties to take care of my skin. But I had a job where I worked outside and my skin was bad from being outside and not using sunscreen. I finally have my skin looking good after that.

one tip to build up to Retin A is to layer your moisturizer underneath the Retin A. it helps build your tolerance without the harsh side effects.

I have super sensitive low porosity skin so my moisturizer has to have my sunscreen in it already because everything I put on my skin just sits on the surface and leaves me with a sticky tacky surface for hours. Needless to say, I don't have hours to wait for serums and lotions to be absorbed so I can apply the next product. It has to be a one and done kind of deal. I don't wear makeup for the same reason, ( I don't have time to wait and it makes me itch)

Does anyone feel nostalgic and sad about not being able to enjoy the sun anymore, almost like we fear it now, even with sunscreen. I live in Southern California and grew up enjoying the beach and the river with my mighty Sea and Ski spf 6 which had NO UVA protection. It was PABA based as recommended by my dad who had melanoma. Anyway, I was always tan and happy but now I'm sad that I'm afraid to be out in the sun too long. I wish we had more cloudy days here.

At 64, I’m very attuned to skin care. Unfortunately, I baked in the sun during high school and college - and the damage was done. Visit your dermatologist- there are skin laser resurfacing treatments that provide some smoothing. SPF is the most important step! Thanks for this video! Never miss one.

you can even put sunscreen on over your foundation. there are mist sunscreens or use a brush with some mineral sunscreens.
@BethDjalali3 жыл бұрын
i tend to alternate products. i think it's good to mix up your skincare routine as your skin builds a tolerance to the products. it's a similar philosophy to mixing up your workout routines so your body doesn't build a tolerance to the same routine.

There are too many chemical ingredients in these products. I much prefer more natural and organic skin care and look at least 10 years younger than I am (without any injections or other procedure on my skin). Also, I avoid big corporations because of their lack of ethics and ecological concerns. For instance, I stopped buying from l'Oreal many, many years ago for these reasons, even though I'm French like them.
@BethDjalali3 жыл бұрын
Everyone has to choose what’s best for them. Socially, economically, or organically. L’Oreal was but one company mentioned today. Thankfully there are so many choices in the 21st century.
