I just wanted to say that I love the drugstore/Walmart/Target videos that you make. A lot of the skincare "influencers" chase expensive, hyped up products trying to get more views or affiliate money but you are a good doctor and emphasize simplicity and frugality along with science, research, and critical thinking about formulations. I've found that I already used a lot of what you recommend being a guy just trying to keep things simple, but your videos have really gave me insight onto why I'm using what I use and why it's better to keep it simple.

Happy Monday! 🌞 I love when you become the The Mythbuster of Skincare! Too many girls and women are self-diagnosing re: mineral oil, silicones, etc. They use one product with one of these ingredients... they “break out” and immediately think mineral oil or silicones, etc is the culprit. Meanwhile, they’re using products with well over 50 ingredients! I’m sure some have valid issues, but they make everyone else fear these ingredients! I’m using less products with less ingredients along with Differin and my skin is looking better than in the past 4 years! Thank you! :-)😁💖

Yes I hope viewers realize how lucky we are to have Dr Dray. I've seen dermatologists in Latin America, the US and in Europe (because I moved many times) and their advise is more or less the same as as Dr Dray's. In the US they all recommend the same brands (Cerave, Elta MD and Neutrogena, in my experience). Dr Dray's channel is unique in that it offers the state of the arts in dermatological recommendations.
@luisaperales7057
@luisaperales7057 6 жыл бұрын
PS In Europe and Latin America they recommend also La Roche Possay because it is more readily available and Avene as well.
@luisaperales7057
@luisaperales7057 6 жыл бұрын
The reason they all recommend the same (wearing sunscreen, avoiding botanical oils, etc) is because their advice is actually based on science, unlike most youtube videos.

I've been trying to understand my skin for so long and your channel has cleared up so much for me. (Pun intended) After changing my cleanser to a non irritating one, I still had eczema on my cheeks. When I put on my "organic" moisturiser tonight I finally realized a slight stinging on my face where my eczema is. I checked ingredients again and I had rosemary essential oil! I would have never guessed! I'm going to get a new one tomorrow. Thank you!

I find the Cerave cream provides deep hydration til the morning unlike any other moisturiser I have tried. Without being overly heavy and oily. I would love to try the Aveeno balm and cleanser too now. Thanks for the recommendation! Have a good day x

OMG, I was a BIG fan of that Aveeno Ultra-Calming Hydrating Gel years ago! I would alternate between that and the forming cleanser from the same line and I really really enjoyed them. But unfortunately I think Aveeno discontinued that product (or maybe just discontinued in Canada...) its REALLY hard to get my hand on them for a long period of time and now they disappeared entirely.... Was quite sad... But it was so nice to see that product in your routine from 2018 and made me smile that I picked and loved a product that you also used and enjoyed :)

I tried so far, many things, from affordable to expencive things, trying to get my skin to a better place. Until now, it was all hit and miss, or after awhile my skin doesnt tolerate those products and I was in despair, especially since rosacea showed up on my cheeks. I just wanna thank Dr Dray, for great advice and myself for trying out a simple skin care routine. My face is sooo much better now and I understand my skin so much better than before. Not to mention the financial side as well. Hada Labo and gentle cleansers, saved my face. Thank you.

A good oil cleanser, not from the drugstore though, is the "boscia cosmetics makeup breakup cool cleansing oil" it does have a faint fragrance but it really works great at removing stubborn water proof mascara. You can find it at Ulta. It cost from $10-$32(depending of size) BUT you need the tiniest amount to remove your makeup.

I love the entire Burts Bees line of skin care. My favorites are the Intense Hydration and Brightening lines. They are cruelty-free and 99% natural. They're quite pricey but I have say that the quality is comparable and even superior to many of the established luxury brands. A lot of KBeauty is also cruelty-free so that's another good place to look. Interestingly Burts Bees model of skincare is patterned like KBeauty-- the emphasis on natural and botanical ingredients.

Thank you for recommending the aveeno balm. I’ve been on tretinoin .05 for a month now and all of a sudden the cereve pm and all of my other (not as good) moisturizers were really stinging and burning. I Just applied the balm tonight after cleansing and it’s so much better. I think I also may need to stop the retin a for a couple of days till irritation subsides. Thank you again for all the great information you bring us. I don’t know how you do it with your busy life but I’m glad I found you. I love the blogs too. Just wish I lived near Costco.(I’m jealous).

I think her whole shtick or channel purpose is to simplify skincare. To show that u don’t have to drop $75- hundred of dollars on a little drop of serum or oil or essence or whatever to have incredible skin. And they’re probably similar drugstore dupes that can get you the results u want and maybe even better and the things u should be looking for are in the active ingredients (AHA, BHA, retinoids, benzoyl peroxide etc). And also that sometimes simple works better. And I think brands that the ordinary prove that too. U don’t have to drop $80 on a one ounce bottle of oil or cream to have amazing skin. She saved us money, headache, and bypasses all the marketing stuff to what really works and what is over hyped price and marketing. She’s a minimalist when it comes to effective skincare, so I don’t see her reviewing products she never buys or would ever use in her everyday life. But maybe tho,🤷🏾‍♀️ idk.

I like the Aveeno Ultra Calming moisturizer in the tub a lot. It's really good too - occlusive but maybe not as much as the one you are using here. I used Differin and my skin didn't do great on it. I then switched to Tretinoin and my skin loves it :) I can see why some might like the Neutragena one more - it is a cream form rather than a gel.

Dr. Dray thank you for your videos, your channel is spectacular and makes amateur consumers like me NOT fall for the unrealistic and non-helpful trends of the beauty industry. I'm dealing with mild acne, with post-acne hyper pigmentation, general hyper-pigmentation around forehead and cheeks. After viewing all your videos, I've come up with the following night time routine that feels good to the skin. Please can you see if the order is right? 1. Cleanser - CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser 2. BHA face wash - Zapzyt (2% salicylic acid) 3. Moisturizer - CeraVe Moisturizer (Ceramides) 4. Serum - Derma E Serum (Hyaluronic Acid) 5. Moisturizer - CeraVe Moisturizer (Ceramides) Twice a week, I also use "The Ordinary's AHA30%, BHA2% Peeling Solution". On those nights, I also apply sunscreen at night instead of a second layer of Moisturizer.

I completely agree with simplistic skin care routines! I used to have horrible acne on my jawline and neck, also all over my face, and I used all sorts of spot treatments and stuff, costed me a lot... when I was doing my military service, I couldn’t bring all of my skin care, so I brought a cleansing balm, face wash, hada labo lotion and a curèl moisturizer for the body (still used it on my face, I loved it) and of course, sunscreen in the morning My skin has improved sooooooo much!

For the past few months I've been using Almay makeup remover + foaming lotion cleanser (that actually doesn't foam at all) and it's one of the gentlest first/oil-based cleanser I've ever tried. I bet it's good for dry and mature skin too. It removes my light makeup well and it's probably good enough for people who just use sunscreen and want to skip double cleansing. The only problem is it can't remove mascara.

So excited to see the notification for your video pop up on my phone! As far as oil cleansing what is your take on using oils such as almond, jojoba, or argon oils? I’ve read on some blogs that different oils tend to be better for different skin needs such as redness, dryness, etc. I like the idea of using a simple oil like that or your suggested mineral oil versus the products out there laden with fragrance and other things...

Just tried out putting lotion on wet skin. I used to have a in shower lotion I loved in hs but the brand stopped making it so I ended up going back to regular lotion over the years. My skin has been so dry on my body recently and I can already tell a big difference! My legs were ashy every time I got out the shower but this method is already making a big difference. I also only used soap where I thought needed it so my legs and arms were save from that. It’s definitely an adjustment for my face as I can’t stand a wet face but I will adjust. The only thing I can’t get myself to do is to take a Luke warm shower...no I LOVE hot showers it’s sooo relaxing for me. I did cool it down when I rinsed my face and hair but otherwise I’m still taking hot showers. I realize this is probably contributing to my dry skin but I can’t help it lol. Maybe one day but today was not that day. Thank you so much for making me realize that all these steps to skin care you see every where on youtube are completely unnecessary. I realized recently that the toner and serum I was using did squat so it’s nice to hear that I was right. Back to two products twice a day feels so nice compared to the four-five I was using. What a waste of money! Lol

Hi Dr dray I was wondering if you could make a video about how main ingredients you talk about are biodegradable or not. I get that some will not care especially when you have strong skin issue. But I don't. I am not looking for magic ingredients and I don't have skin diseases I just want to maintain my skin with effective ingredients while not damaging the planet if possible. I have tried by myself but It s difficult to find those information online and of course brands don't talk about it. Thanks!

I thought that mineral oil had a large molecule and the problem is when your done cleansing that molecule is left behind and don't allow the next step you take such as if you use an acid, vitamin c or even retinol the won't absorb properly. I avoid mineral oil before I take these step but do use it to lock in everything else as a FINAL step sometimes...
