Great job to the memory of the anniversary of Neal's passing. Love you, Son!

And it's you I have to thank for being my biggest influence for playing the drums. I still remember vividly getting my first drum set (not the real Tama set but the kid toy set) when I was like 6 years old. I remember sitting on your lap and you teaching me how to hold the sticks and play. I still remember the surfer beat you played. I remember you challenging me to learn a set of songs, one of which being The Beatles "Carry That Weight". I was so happy to show you what I've learned when you got home from work. Even 40 years later, I still want to show you what I've learned and what I've achieved. Thank you dad, I love you. 🥰

Thanks Bill. It's really all the SD3 core library on this one. I built this preset before I had a large collection of libraries and to my surprise it wasn't half bad sounding. I re-mixed it some, used The Metal Machinery SDX for my crash cymbals (the best library for crashes by the way!), and did a little macro automation to solo the room mics only during the "CUT" section @ 3:44. Thanks for the comment as always Bill!

Excellent work Bryan! Neil Peart was absolutely my main drum hero growing up too. I first heard him drumming on the Fly By Night album that my older brother had, and this was when I was just learning the drums too. I'm not familiar with this song, but you absolutely nailed it. That breakdown at 3:44 -- stellar! And of course the preset sound is killing it as always. I've been contemplating which song to cover from Rush... that's my excuse for actually being too chicken to cover Rush! 😳😳🤣🤣

Right there Mike! Start right there with the track Fly By Night. I mean it's perfect for you. It was your first introduction to Rush so just start at the roots. So no more excuses -just do it! 😁 Thanks as always for the comment and yea, that breakdown section was very fun to play. Although it took many attempts during practice and filming to get the transitioning right on that. It's just kind of an unnatural feeling. I plan to post a KZbin short of that section so you can see how it looks in one take with out the video transition effects. Well, thanks again man. 😎🤘🙏

Did you change the tones for this song? Snare still has that nice snap to it that I really like.
@RedGearMusic14 күн бұрын
Yes and no. I started working on this song back in 2019, maybe even before that, to do a full band cover of it. So I built this preset back then. We had several tracks done in the project, then in typical fashion, it stalled out. I pulled it up a couple of months ago and was pretty surprised how good the kit sounded. I made some other tweaks to round out the sound since I've gotten better at mixing over the years, and here we are. So the tones are more of an early stage of my mixing adventures and it used mainly the Superior Drummer 3 core library. Appreciate you checking out this non- popular track from Rush and leaving a comment 😁
