I would never think to incorporate a 5-stroke roll like this, very cool!

@naedsukram in particular that cover of walking on the moon, he kills this concept in there, sounds super cool

Have you heard Wet T-Shirt Nite on the Joe's Garage Album, Vinnie Colaiuta does a nifty jazz/latin beat, sounds complicated it has a standard jazz pattern on the hihat while the bass and toms do a latin thing

+Dave Watts Yes, I've heard the song. That's one of my favourite albums of all time :) Vinnie is improvising most of the grooves in the song. He also sounds to be on the ride bell and hi-hat. I'm not sure where you're referring to that has a standard jazz pattern on the hi-hat.

@andrben That changes a lot. I'm always experimenting. I just got a Panasonic SD90 (check out my video showing the zoom!) I used that for this video. I sent the drums through a mixer and recorded the audio using QuickTime Player 7. I edited in Final Cut Pro X which I really like but it crashed on me twice while editing!

@Jez2008UK Thanks for watching ;) I just uploaded the second part of the SoloWorkshop. If you liked this I'm pretty sure you'd like that too. The solo workshops cover a lot of ground in a lot of depth.

@naedsukram I can already do the accents with the single strokes sticking , im gonna work on the doubles now because that's certainly much harder. Thanks for this lesson Joe, been wanting to be able to play this for a while. Btw check Jeff Richman's last arrival, Joel Taylor does lots of cool stuff like this on there.

Hi Joe..superb lesson again. Isn't this the same sticking that Vinnie uses on the track 'Cowboys and Indians' from the Works album by Nik Kershaw ? (on snare just before 2nd verse)..loved your 'Dont ask me ' fill explanation vid too btw!!
@DeanWuksta13 жыл бұрын
when the hats pattern gets up to speed adding the doubles, is it similar sticking to a fast paradiddle accenting the singles?

@lost4ausername I guess it's an 11 stroke roll.... R llrrllrrll
@mcufre13 жыл бұрын
@naedsukram No, he is doing R ll rr L rr ll R llrr L rr ll.....etc Capital letters being the accents, what you mean with the fast paradiddle accenting the singles would be RL rr LR ll RL rr LR ll , see the difference? I gotta say the sticking for this lick with the doubles is damn hard, dunno how you play it so clean joe, you got magic hands bro
@joecrabtreedrums13 жыл бұрын
@naedsukram I'm sorry, I'm not sure what you mean.
@DeanWuksta13 жыл бұрын
@naedsukram sorry, could be mistaken, but could u play it as RLLRRLRRLLR etc with single strokes accented. like sextuplet sticking
@brandonmackiedrums13 жыл бұрын
Trying to get my head around the sticking pattern on the Hi-hat when sped up...essentially i think its just a five-stroke roll. R ll rr L rr ll R etc
@stefanmuehlenkamp13 жыл бұрын
@naedsukram no, singles are doubled up. :)
