Playing with heavier sticks and playing on a pillow are just a couple of the things I did to develop my speed on drums. Hi my name is Camellia Akhamie Kies (CAMI) and I just wan to thank you for watching my video. Please feel free to like and subscribe. Thanks for the love and support.
Here is a link to the wrist weights I recommend, but please use whatever feels comfortable.
www.amazon.com/fit-Wrist-Weig...
Mastering the drumming stick control is the best way to increase speed. It’s all about making your hands do exactly what you want when you want. As a drummer, it is so important to control the sticks at all times. You can improve the drums stick control and practice how to drum faster with some hand speed drills and exercises that will work on the essential elements for speed drumming. Text me if you're interested in on-line drum lessons 202-505-0510.
I would love to help you develop your technique.

EXCELLENT ol' skool technical approaches! I vividly remember my high school band director back in 1981 (Memphis Melrose High School) taking the marching drums away from us for 2 weeks during summer band camp & he made all of us play rudimental drills with our sticks, bass mallets, & tenor mallets on pillows!!!! By the time we finally got to "strap up", we could feel & hear a significant difference in both techniques & timekeeping (we ran the rudiment drills with an overhead speaker metronome). As veteran drummers/percussionists, we lose muscle mass & joint strength as we age, which is why I still do rhythm & rudiment drills on a pillow still today; the only difference is, I flip my marching sticks to use the butt instead of the tip: match grip style. THANK YOU young lady for this video. 👍👍👍🌟🌟🌟🌟

I just found your video today. I got me a pair of Scorpion practice sticks. They're heavy and don't even taper out in thickness nor have a tip. Just straight from end to end. I've been using them on a pillow and it's a HELL of a workout. I think you have your pillow too high. It's gotta be more or less where the snare would be. I put my pillow on my snare stand.

I’ve noticed that if I play with my left hand alone it’s so hard - but if I play with my right hand at the same time the left is more coordinated, stronger and faster. Gonna play a lot on the pillow with my left hand to make it stronger ❤️

Thank you so much. You always explain technic so good and easy. You Tutorials are so much fun to watch and they help so so much. Here i have to smile because i really like Taylor Hawkins and Dave Grohl. And Dave Grohl once said that as a Kid he learnt playing the drums on pillows. He orderded them like a drum set and played with these fad Marching sticks to Punk rock. So you can think about him whatever you want, but he is a powerful great drummer. So thank you for this Video. I will practise like you told us because i cant speed up very good...😉😊 Greetings from Germany....

I think practice rudiments with a metronome is enough to develop speed. It takes a while to develop speed; it doesn’t happen in months, more like years. Anyways I appreciate your approach.

Thanks for the quick lesson on doubles at The Black Monk Saturday after your amazing performance! Now that I've had time to watch these videos I realize just exactly how weak my left hand is when turning the stick around to hit my arm like you demonstrated. It's silly how weak it is compared to my right. Now I know what to work on. Waiting on Marching Stick to come in and I've already started on the pillow. Rock on and thanks for your generosity with your time!
