Definitely. Speaking of which, have you heard St Tristan's Sword? I believe it was recorded around the time of Led Zep III and was only released about a decade ago. Has such a funky groove to it.

Underrated song from an underrated album. The drumming in absolutely killer to go along with that great riff. Hard to believe the album is from 1970. Growing up, Zep III was not my favorite album, but, man, it has grown on me in a big way as I've gotten older. During my cancer treatment, I listened to "That's the Way" a ton. Check it out! I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Imagine that a band that actually played over and over and over again to get it right. Such a tasty drummer. Love these older classic recordings before everything became sterilized and stretched or slammed into quantized hell. Even the studio recording sounds like a band that has played together in a garage together. The greatest part of this band was that tightness and looseness if that makes sense. Good job mate !

I don’t think he was the first to play those triplet fills. I’m pretty sure he got that from Mickey Waller from the Jeff Beck Group. But Bonham is certainly responsible for making it famous and the reason we’ve heard drummers using it ever since. It’s so effective that 3 against 4 feel for quick tension and release.

Ned from Spain here Andrew. Super video once again and a great song choice. Cool to hear it as an instrumental too. One thing I think you should pay attention to is that in the second half of each verse they shorten the turn around phrase from 4 beats to 3. Once again the Zeps mess around with time to throw the listener a curve ball and demonstrate their ability to groove with odd patterns. Thanks Andrew !!

Stellar review, awesome song... sometimes RP vocals distract too much on this track it's very cool to hear it this way. PS the cymbal mild crashes sound so alike it's like he only used 1 or 2 to keep it studio mellow

Nope. Bonham didn't play anything but drums. It's a JPJ riff, drawing from his experience as an organist - it basically rips off a Bach organ pedal part.

Not sure I've heard this without singing, yes it sure does isolate the drums more. I worshipped at the altar of the Bonzo for decades, until Neil Peart took over the #1 spot, for me. I did spend a bit of time on his drum kit from Zeppelin 4 when I was at the Rock Hall of Fame a few years ago. As far as I'm concerned, music has lost it's soul and so have people. Or is it that they don't know any better? Taylor Swift? 😂

Yeap being specifically metronomic you can create hits, then you can use it as a pattern do be specifically " spontaneous or not metronomic, and call yourself progressive, that never worked for me, now this is very progressive and spontaneous but also to the bone and to the marrow, as Sabbath also
