You pronounced it right at the very beginning haha!! Thank you very much for that video it's a real surprise for me! 🙏 For those interested in understanding the metric of this composition, the guitar riff you repetitively hear is a 5vs7 polyrhythm. It means that over a 16th notes subdivision, you play 1 subdivision over 5 with a hand, and 1 subdivision over 7 in the other hand. It makes a unique rhythm that repeats over 35 16th notes. So, the time signature is actually 35/16 😁 And the magic is, you can really play it the way you want on the drums. You can play it in 5/16 to emphasize the repetition every 5 subdivision (like at 02:41), or in 7 (like at 02:58), but also in 4/4 (keeping a steady hi hat/snare groove like at 03:23, accentuating the rhythm with the kick (which is constantly changing places haha), or in 6/8 (like at 04:21). Each metric point of view makes the riff dance differently!

That was a beautiful song. Really looking forward to a full-length album in the future. I mean, I'll probably just listen to this song for an hour and call it an album.

Elite level composing and playing. Such a joy watching musicians who actually have talent and the work ethic required to reach this level.

Man, I don't even get what she's doing, but I can hear the awesome dynamics, orchestration, and movement around the kit. I was entranced the whole time.

Camille is an absolute force!! Highly recommend following her IG and YT where they breakdown some of these patterns and the ideas behind them. Personally I can only follow about 10% of it but it's SUPER interesting.

It boggles me that anyone can keep this sort of time in their head, let alone coordinate multiple limbs too! I'm reminded of watching Rachel Flowers playing Steve Reich's Piano _Phase_ solo, or listening to some of King Crimson's more polyrhythmic outings. I also feel that it should sound like mush, but it's very listenable - thanks for sharing!

I’ve always found prog to be very palindromic, layers of palindromes that all meet at the end. -she’s a great drummer, very fluid.
@AndrewRooneyDrumsАй бұрын
Not gonna lie. I had to google that word.
@eyeexaggerate7687Ай бұрын
@ soooo? Palindromic or no? lol Kick / snare in Snare / kick out all within the groove like flams, Haake uses it a lot (and I would bet that so does Hakim and etc)
