Yes, that is a home recording by Kalonica, who I am proud to be a patron of. The home studio has been built from contributions from her patrons, mostly those with deeper pockets than I can manage, but I do what little I can to support her and a few other young artists. She composes and arranges as well, and a number of international collaborations under her belt.

ok I just watched both . Yoyoka has a more open live mix . Kalonica has a much more compressed mix. A lot of comments say Yoyoka has more feel.or groove . I think it's hard to compare two very different sounding kits . I think they are both amazing talents . I wish I was a tenth as good as either of them . Peace and love brother 👍🏻☮❤

Check out her cover of Radar Love. It's like an exercise in how many grips she can move between, both hands, but the transitions with the left hand can pretty much be labeled as "bad ass".

Outside of her coming out of fills a tad too fast, which she does on many of her videos, her drumming is nearly impeccable - she a ton better than I am. She has a great sense of control which studio producers looks for in their drummers, more than style in any session. She nails it. Amazing control and obvious discipline. All the markings of a great drummer. Just got to come out of some of her fills easier. She rushes to get back in line but has to slow herself down by the second hit.

She can play some,every bit as good as Yoyoka. As I approach my 70th birthday,I grew up thru what's called rock,right back to early Rolling Stones,Yardbirds & the Kinks. So I can appreciate many forms of rock after getting on for 60yrs of listening to rock music.

Her cymbal arrangement kinda reminds me of Portnoy's setup. Cool video Andrew. Check out " Lashed to the Slave Stick" Alex Rudinger. His double kick pattern in the video is amazing. People dont realize how hard it is to play double kick for an entire song, and he changes the tempo without missing a beat. It's a must see video Andrew. Check it out.

The tempo is somehow... different, like different groove? I don't know what I'm saying here, but somehow I hear a difference between the original Deep Purple tempo and her tempo, if that makes any sense. Anyone else feel it too? Having said that, I definitely cannot do what she does, so... yeah... she's good.

Followed Kolonica for some time now. She is a fantastic drummers in her own right and indeed the quality of Tama drums recordings are great. Comparing her with Yoyoka is comparing apples with pears. They are both different kind of drummers and it's a matter of personal preference. Some of the originals of Kolonica I really like. Her dad is a musician too and they sometime play together and touch on a wide range of different styles. I rate her version of Burn as good and certainly cleaner than Sina's. However this type of music demands killers behind the drumkit (John, Keith or Ginger). Kinda people that hit you with their drumstick or their pole (Ginger). In the drumming style Yoyoka is more that kind of type. This weekend Soma family version of Breed proves that it is in the genes. The most interesting question for the future is if these genius talents are also able to write great music like Dany, Pau & Ale Villareal do. Time will tell. I do not want to scare you Andrew but I have seen another young drumming girl (Kii) of 8 years old who is also extremely talented. Despite we are on the virge of a total collapse of the fractional reserve banking system and subsequent grave consequences, the development of musical talent of children gives some hope for the future.

Oh, would you recommend a digital drum set or a normal one to start learning to play on? And if so, sorry to bug, but what and how many of each piece would be a good starter kit. I usually have a lot of time on my hands, so why not learn drums? Both my brothers taught themselves to play regular guitars and they can play bass and some drums too, my dad was in a country band band when he was younger, I'm the only one who don't play an instrument and im 48 now so, uh, lets get started!👋😁👍 Thank you!

I'm your age and been playing since I was 10 had numerous kids over the years but for practice I like jumping behind my rolling td6 yes it is Jurassic but it has a metronome of course where you can slow your timing down speed up your timing playing any kind of measure three four four five four so it really gives you a dynamic range of things you can do and you never get bored so many pre-programmed songs to speed up the slow down learn your timing learn your odd time signatures while playing over top with fills really helps the timing,

I think this girl is great. I like her stage presence as well. But something just doesn't feel right. When she hit the first few notes, honestly, I was afraid it would be better than Yoyoka, but as she went on it just felt a little off (off is probably not the right word). I like Yoyoka's version better. But I'm not a musician. I definitely will go to her channel and check out some of her other stuff though! I also noticed she did a cover of Rosanna 3 days ago, which Yoyoka did, so that will be interesting. Like yo,u I hate to compare talent head to head, they're all great talents. But I always compare everyone to Yoyoka. My unbiased opinion. Unbiased, that's a laugh! Thanks for the great analysis!

@Glen.Black. 3 жыл бұрын
@@keefriff99 I went to her site after watching this and watched her cover of "Rosanna". It was very good and solid like this. I'm not a musician, but maybe there are just subtle differences I like about Yoyoka. You tell me, does this girl use ghost notes? Seems to me not. Her strikes seem to be just single strikes. But I don't know. That's what I'm guessing is another difference. None of this is really a criticism of Kalonica. She is very talented and puts out 2-3 covers a week. Which means drumming or music is somewhat natural for her.

Not to keep bugging you, but….look at the size of this girls kit, and then the size of Yoyokas kit for her burn cover. It would be really cool if you could breakdown what’s going on for those of us not in the know…. Is it harder to play on the larger kit, both covers seem spot on to me yet with all the difference in gear I’m not sure why. Kalonica uses most of her kit in the cover (it seems) as does yoyo…but if my eyes were closed I could not hear the difference. If I played the same song on my Yamaha, Carvin and breedlove, all amp and effect setting the same you would certainly hear a difference….even on a basic melody line, riff or lick…

Amazing the talent on these youngsters. I am not a fan of her tuning. That snare drum is really lacking warmth. The rack and floor toms are also too deep. There also seems to be a disconnect in her fills and that bass drum pattern is wrong . In comparison, Yoyoka has a better pocket, drums sound very live/organic and she just has an effortless ability to be right in the moment. Nevertheless, I would be proud of either one of them if they were my kid. Keep flying the flag for RAWK !!!

I am sorry Andrew, but I do not like the recording at all. The mic on the snare seems to have a filter on it exaggerating the high frequencies, sounding like pistol shots. The rest of the drum sounds are very low and drowning in the backing track. Kalonica is fantastic, but she needs a better recording than this. Maybe I shall try to look at the original video?

The sound from the original video is better. There you can hear the drums better. But still the hard hits on the snare drum are way too high and just high frequencies, I assume they are rim shots? I enjoy the recording and mixing of the YOYOKA video much better.
