Was written by David Coverdale when he was in the band. Then became lead singer of White Snake. A lot of people giving props to Ritchie’s guitar playing. As should, but… Jon Lord on keyboards should never be overlooked. One of the greatest and a very essential part of this band!

Seen Deep Purple live. They had an ability to just turn it ON.. made it look easy .. they were never ever bad in a live setting .. did have a tendency to play overly loud though. They were fucking brutal. Ian Paice is an underrated drummer as well. Up there with the greatest live bands ever in my opinion. Cheers 🍺

Loved your reaction as always!!! I saw Deep Purple live several decades back! Not this performance but it was incredible! Saw them live doing “Child in Time!” WOW!!! (Loved your reaction to that!) Anyway someone else mentioned Space Truckin by Deep Purple. Richie Blackmore is in a Renaissance band with his wife Candace Knight. It’s called “Blackmore’s knight” Totally different style but it’s amazing and great guitar playing as always! Back in the 60s, there was another group called “Iron Butterfly” They did a 17 minute song called “In a Gadda Da Vida” It was an incredible song and it would be soooooo FUN to watch you two react to that sometime 😀 Thank you guys!!!!! 👍

Wow, Deep Purple and the incomparable Mr Ritchie Blackmore!! Absolutely amazing performance from all the band. As you say, Jon Lord playing the keyboards for all he was worth and Ian Paice giving it laldy on the drums as we say in Scotland!! Gosh, it's been a while as you said but brilliant to see and listen to this tremendous band again. I watched your reaction to the studio version of Burn and I really enjoyed it, but this live one is wonderful. Thanks so much for this great reaction, guys, really enjoyed it. By the way, how about some songs from the Deep Purple In Rock album with Ian Gillan? Hard Lovin Man, Flight of the Rat or Speed King to name but a few.

I keep coming back when I think of more. Ritchie Blackmore fast? No doubt. I have a couple of guys in mind that I know you will eventually get to, if you keep this up. Especially ONE guy. Super famous guitarist. He actually had other hotshot, well established, Rockstar guitarists come to him for lessons! No joke, he has a band of serious players who all go under his name. There’s no band name, just his name. Even for us experienced fans who started all this, the guy was/is mind blowing when he came out. It was more impossible, next level playing. Up there with everybody skill and songwriting wise. As a veteran fan, I can say with confidence that even if you don’t know his name, you will be fucking blown away! How does playing get any better at this point? This is how. I’m not sure if I want to name him yet but will soon I promise, if somebody doesn’t beat me to it first. I just think you have to have a little more experience first. This is not some talented obscure guitarist. He’s been World Famous for decades. There is the one album that made him. It’s a must have record for any serious Rock fan. Ok, fuck it! Are you ready? The man is Joe Satriani, the record is Surfing With the Alien. His nickname is the Alien because his playing is other worldly excellent. Again, start with the title track, it’s the first song on the album. All instrumental by the way. No singing at all. No singer in his band. Doesn’t matter at all. You will see. You want to know what blister speed, super clean, super unbelievable sounds like? The second track is where you will freak out. I know it. It’s Ice 9. This came out in 88 and still is beyond most guitarists. I saw him once and every Rock guitarist in the city was there! Ha ha! To be expected. There you go guys. As always, my guarantee and potential criticism from you stands. I don’t recommend bad music EVER! Peace, Phil

Hi guys, - You like David Coverdale ? You like Jimmy Page ? - Did you know they made a studio album together ? If you want to hear a powerhouse of a rock track then I suggest the last track on the album "Coverdale & Page" called "A Prayer For The Dying" . Just one disclaimer - should the speakers of your headphones explode, I am not responsible. Lol - Great reaction to this live track. Love it. I have the full concert on vhs video I bought decades ago. Amazing concert, still rocks today. 70's rock music is hard to beat.

@@annemaclean6634, thanks, I just saw that today. I don’t always keep up with everyone and what they’ve done, not wanting to go through their entire reaction catalog every time to double check. I’ve been a sub for a while with these guys and I must have missed it. They are some of my favorite reactors for sure. I know I’m just one guy and majority rules but I have extensive experience with all this music and excellent Rock taste. I suggest some really, really great songs that aren’t deep cuts but are some I’m sure a lot of people haven’t heard yet. This is my music. I grew up with this stuff from day one when all this music was brand new. I went to all the concerts and have heard these songs hundreds if not thousands of times. I’m just trying to slip in some high level seriously excellent Hard Rock. But I’m just one guy. Who knows his shit.

My favourite track has to be Child in Time but there are so many great tracks on this album. Another fantastic band is Ten Years After with the wonderful Alvin Lee - we had loads of their albums as well. We were so lucky weren't we to have this amazing music - all the best.

@@annemaclean6634, yeah, it’s pretty amazing in hindsight. Who knew it turn out like this? I was pretty depressed for a while with my situation 5 years ago. I was getting older, no decent career and all my favorite musicians were retiring or dying. I was thinking, is this whole thing finally dying out? I had never thought that before. Not EVER! It’s Rock&Roll! And you know what they say! Then I mercifully found the YT reaction channels! Thank goodness! It really proves that it won’t die! I was so happy and inspired by these youngsters, it was exactly what I needed! Now I’m thinking hey! I can help! Ha Ha! I’m just one guy and they don’t trust me. It’s frustrating because I KNOW everyone watching will love my picks! I KNOW this stuff I tell them. But I’m just one guy. Who knows his shit! Ha Ha!

Richie Blackmore, just like Jimmy Page in Zeppelin, was the conductor of the band. Both used hand-cues to direct their respective drummers during transitions in songs and it can be seen several times in live recordings. At the ending of this live version of BURN .. Richie can be seen marking the final drum-outro with his right arm. It is not just for show for the audience but an integral part of how the chemistry worked on stage. As I said .. you can see the same thing with Jimmy Page and a few other guitarist in rock bands during the 70s, but not all of them did this. There was never any doubt who's band it was .. Deep Purple was Ritchie's band just like Zeppelin was Jimmy Page's band. Cheers 🍺

This is why you guys are now my go to channel. First, you play all the Rock songs I want to hear again and I get to see an honest, sincere, appreciative reaction. To say the least. You are usually a little more stoic Patrick, not a criticism, I know you are enjoying it as much as you brother. In this one, I can see it in your face, excitement for sure. Now George, ha ha! George is awesome because he reminds us of us who were teenagers in America when all this stuff came out. That’s exactly how we were! openly blown away, cranking it up on our stereos, making our parents worry and going to ALL the CONCERTS! You guys are at the perfect age for this channel. Why? Because you aren’t some confused teenager with a channel who has absolutely no point of reference. Don’t get me wrong, I love it when reactors go in cold really not knowing what’s about to hit them. You guys are a little older so you have a better understanding of it. Obviously smart guys too. That helps the audience a lot. Some of these other’s just start babbling senseless stuff afterwards. George is gone! (In a good way). True fan right there! You too Patrick! Imagine being an American teenager, smoking pot, drinking beer and going to one of these shows. It was our lifestyle, us and our friends. Concert Night was an all day process. Friends getting together, the partying getting started, figuring out who’s driving and who’s in what car. Getting dressed right. This was OUR social event and you had to look right in front of your peers. Then you get there, try to find good parking and merge into the lit up rowdy, maniacs who were the audience. Girls looked like Rock Video girls in short dresses and heels and hair. The guys were who’s the coolest and most badass. It was a hellava scene EVERY time! Find your seat, get comfortable and then the lights go down, AND IT WAS ON! I joke about the Rock&Roll time machine when I see certain reactions. I want to be your personal tour guide to one of these shows and show you how it’s DONE! Making sure you get the full experience. I want to do this for 2 reasons. First I want to revisit some of these shows obviously. Second, as your guide, I get to enjoy your company, make sure everything goes smoothly and finally to laugh my ass off as your brain melts live! Ha ha! So sad, never the same again. Ha ha! I’ve got stories for days and a stupid, ridiculously long, long list of concerts that I’ve seen over the decades. I’ve seen DEEP PURPLE live 7 times. That’s just ONE band! Dozens more, numerous times each! RUSH 18 times, QUEENSRYCHE 21 times, YES 6 times, PINK FLOYD 3 times, IRON MAIDEN 18 times, It goes on and on. Looking back it seems incredible that I went to so many. Basically that’s all I did in the 80’s. Good times man. Last, I want to recommend a JUDAS PREIST song. Riding On The Wind! It’s off the Screaming For Vengeance album and it was at their peak. It’s a Slamming Hard Rock song with great energy and really represents what the band is all about. This is pure JUDAS PREIST when they it fly! One of their best songs and I personally guarantee it! If you do it and don’t love it, I give you full permission to criticize or even insult me live on your channel. Not gonna happen. Like I said, I guarantee it. Peace, Phil

Guys great reaction. Deep Purple is my favorite hard rock band ever. That had so many styles, so many great songs. You need to explore Deep Purple in Rock, Fireball, Machine Head and Who do we think we are. Great songs on those albums. Deep Purple with Led Zep were the fathers of hard rock. But I like DP better. And yes they were very loud my ears were ringing for days.

Man,in common with most rock bands of that era, those guys were all high on LSD and yet they could play the pants off any of these so called rock groups nowadays!😅

Great reaction Guys, you're right, this song has so much drive, has similarities in that respect with Highway Star, check out "Stormbringer" LIVE with the same line-up: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZarl5pvd7aSqdU they synced the audio from a Paris show with visuals from the 74' California Jam gig, Cheers
