9 talented? Sadly no, Joey made Slipknot special, he and Paul Grey both were the hearth and soul of the band. When Grey died, the band took a hard hit, and when they kicked Joey out, the band died for me. They became just another heavy metal band, that only play their old hits at concerts created by Grey and Joey. Corey sold out real fast.

Slipknot consist on 9 members in the band. Starting with: 3 percussionists (1 being the main drummer, 2 of which use custom equipment such as marching band snares. Toms. Timpani (kettle drum). And a empty beer keg for steel drum like sound or sometimes use to bang it with a bat for gong/ splash effect). 2 guitarist, bassist, a DJ, a sampler/ keyboardist, and lead vocals.

Joey has been my idol since I was 7 years old, I still have a class project I made for him when I was in 5th grade. He is the reason I started playing drums, I bought his snare and he was the reason I used paiste cymbals. He is the reason I got into music in general. I just found out about his passing yesterday and I couldn’t stop shaking..it brought tears to my eyes. So many of the people around him turned their backs on him, and now it’s too late. There is no closure. It’s time to hang up the masks.. you (Corey/Shawn) owe it so many people, especially Paul and Joey, not to mention Chris.. Love you Joey, we miss you so much. THE #1.

I couldn't agree with you more. I was a bit older when they started out. I was 19 in 1999. I bought their album a week after it released and it instantly changed my life. I've seen them live 6 times. I have the tattoos. I am a maggot through and through. But I do not support this band they call Slipknot now. At all. Corey and Shawn are two of the most disloyal and selfish scumbags on the face of the earth as far as I'm concerned. To throw away arguably the greatest drummer to ever hold a pair of sticks, due to his illness is unforgivable. Replaced him with a wannabe on a watered down kit that they could pay half of what they were paying Joey. Joey was one of the main reasons they had so much success. Now as you say, they will have to live with it for the rest of their lives. I doubt they'll give it much thought though. Matter of fact, I heard they were profiting off of Joey's death by charging people money to touch Joey's kit at their shows. It's truly unreal. You can see just how selfish they are by what they done to Chris. Chris was a very important piece of the shows and put his blood sweat and tears in that band. It's disgusting. I don't understand why the rest of the band puts up with that disloyalty? They swore they would never be like GWAR, and now here we're are! At least GWAR still had their hair when they were doing it at 50. Looking back at what I know now, it wouldn't shock me none whatsoever if those pieces of shit drove Paul to suicide. There I said it.

This does appear to be the "wrong" video, however it's a song that was really worth checking out anyway. I made exactly the same mistake initially (as you'll see in the comments in your previous video). Slipknot have a song called "disasterpiece" but also there is the "disasterpieces" DVD; one of the features on this DVD is the Joey Jordison drum solo that the comment was mentioning. You can find that specific drum solo here ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/qobMk36eZb9gY8U ), it is seriously worth your time watching. Another song that is well worth a watch is "spit it out" from download festival in 2009, it's a perfect example as to why slipknot has the cult following it has amassed over the years ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/bWPVomRsnZZ8hck ).

I took drum lessons back in year 7 but used it as a way to get out of math class, it wasn't until I heard Joey playing drums I saw what drummers were capable of and ever since then I took drums seriously. He was the reason I'm playing today, miss him, what a legend.

There’s something so satisfying with watching someone who is a master in their craft appreciate a style that is completely out of their area of expertise. Whether it’s a football player appreciate a rugby players work ethic, or a musician appreciate another musician of another genre. It shows that skill level and love of the craft can be appreciated across all areas

Yeah. The guys talking about the drum solo he did from the disasterpieces DVD. Worked out well though. Because seeing a full track you can appreciate joeys playing more. The solo itself isn't all that. It's more about the actual performance and stage setting. So...third times a charm mate. Don't think anyone would complain about seeing more Joey 😉

@@Madzguy007 Joey was good, Slipknot is a decent band, but that's quite a bold statement to say they changed the metal industry. I'm going to have to strongly disagree. Pete Sandoval of Morbid Angel was blasting faster than Joey before Joey ever picked up sticks. Fear Factory and Ministry was using odd industrial sounds before Slipknot was Slipknot. Mushroomhead was doing the whole mask / costume thing before Slipknot, GWAR did it before Mushroomhead, Kiss did it before GWAR. Meshuggah and Pantera were grooving before Slipknot. Anthrax was putting rap into metal before literally EVERYONE. I mean seriously, all Slipknot did was incorporate what had already been done several times by various other bands. Slipknot is Slipknot. They didn't start an entire new genre. They broke no new ground. Meshuggah started djent, Celtic Frost, Possessed, and Death is why there is death metal, the big 4 is responsible for thrash ( with Venom, Exodus, Testament, and Overkill) which should rightfully be included in lifting thrash off the ground, and there were also bands like Nile, Cannibal Corpse, etc floating around. Like I said, Slipknot is Slipknot, a very good band, but they didn't really change anything, not even with bringing in a DJ. Anthrax did that with Public Enemy. As someone who has been in the metal scene since the very beginning of thrash and has seen it all, I have to strongly disagree with your statement.

@@lefthook4878 I hate this discounting a band narrative crap anytime I see it. Slipknot went pretty mainstream with techniques that most people who weren't already into underground stuff didn't care about at all. Super groups are rare to this day and to have 3 percussionists is pretty much unheard of still. Sampling in songs is basically dead these days. Quite a few unusual things they did that they got right even if they weren't always "the first to do it". Finally Slipknot switched in between different metal genres fairly seamlessly, something extremely uncommon up until fairly recently I'd argue. Nobody else sounds like Slipknot.
