Once i listened to Sepultura album "The Mediator Between Head and Hands Must Be the Heart" i knew that Eloy will be the best drummer in the world. Few years ago Sepultura visited my hometown and when Eloy started i thought my heart is going to explode. He's got unlimited power and technique.

Eloy is a force. One to be reckoned with. His power, precision, technique, and emotion encapsulates the primitive drive that Slipknot originally brought to the table when they hit the scene in the late 90s. Good for Slipknot for bringing in the right guy to deliver that POWER. Of course Joey is legendary in his own right, and Jay played his heart out with them for a decade. All unique chapters of the band, but this new one on the horizon has me just as excited as I was when I saw them in '99 at 11 am on 2nd stage Ozzfest.

If you didn’t noticed, it’s because his extra fills just fit in with the song perfectly. The drums were already very complicated as played by Joey. Jay kinda simplified them… Eloy took everything that Joey did and turned it up a notch…

I feel eloy was able to bring us back to those early slipknot days. Joey was awesome as his drum parts are goated, and jay had a great feel, but eloy is a different breed. Its amazing to see a drummer fit so well for a band, some bands get a new drummer and theres alot of hit or miss this just feels right in so many ways he also fits thr part costume wise, with eloy he was born to play for slipknot, his aggression,feel,time and musical knowledge adds to much feel to slipknot and make them very interesting again. I love the power and groove he brings to Slipknot and you can hear glimpses of Sepultura. My one worry is even though he is also a physical specimen I wonder how sustainable it is playing his style on tour night after night after night (Slipknots music is far more demanding). And your'e right you cant compare drummers talent but does it become not drumming, but a matter of endurance and durability like Olympic class levels of fitness. Anyway I love Eloy he is world class and I hope he absolutely stamps his mark on the band and his career.

oh man, i was waiting for your reaction and comentary. As a brazilian drummer I follow Eloy's carrer for a long long time, and something about 5/6 years he became my favourite drummer. And the best thing is: Slipknot is one of my 5 favourite bands, with A7x, Pantera, Dream theater and Maiden. So can you imagine how happy i am? Actually i don't have words, such as my friends here. Here in Brazil we are celebrating like it was a football world cup championship.

Obviously he was in one of biggest metal bands in the world and is now in another one of the biggest metal bands in the world, but in his lesser known work, he can really mess with time, such as polyrhythms and odd meters. The dude is quite literally the whole package for drumming. He's so versatile. And his ability to do odd meter/prog metal/djent could really bring Slipknot into uncharted territory musically. Orrrrrrr Slipknot could be his way to let loose and have his lesser known project Casagrande & Hanysz be where he's more thoughtful and meticulous with his compositions (similar to Aric Improta when he was in Fever 333 and then his main, lesser known band, Night Verses).

I hope Eloy injects some new life and energy into SK I liked towards the end of the song he added his own flavor with some modified fills in the moment bc you can see Cory turn around and look at Eloy for a good 5-6 secs I wish the best for Eloy bc SK can be very hard on thier drummers 🧐✌️👍

Hopefully that’s not true and he is not modifying the original fills. Especially on the 25th anniversary of their first album. The best drummer would honor the original pieces and wait for the new album to add their personal flair.

@The0nlyy I agree to a point but a drummer especially of the caliber of Eloy I'd expect him to add his own flavor while still being true to the spirit of the original song Zak Wylde added his own flavor doing the Pantera thing But as a drummer if I know a song inside and out and have played it 100's of times I add some spice of my own Either way Eloy will elevate SK back to thier creative peak 👍✌️🧐
