That level of showmanship while keeping great timing shows the hard work and dedication you've put in at the kit. Didn't know it at the time, but as a kid, maybe 10 years old, had access to my older metal head cousin's cassette tapes where I'd play Dofka's Toxic Wasteland over and over, only realizing a few years ago you were part of that band at one point..... but anyway, I look forward to anything serious or fun you're part of in the future. That's just it, you can't do all those extra entertaining moves without having the drums done technically proficient and done right first. All that shit goes out the window if you don't have the timing and play the song like the record or close to it. This guys has excellent timing and swing and he not only plays the song like the record but does it his own way. He's at the right gig because he's entertaining while playing and awesome set of drums. He's an excellent showman and a really good drummer, period. I have much respect for this guy because he's original and he's having fun. He's adding a visual appeal on top of his drum playing and sound.

Its absolutely inspiring to me...tommy lee, shannon larkin, an several others have tried this...an cant pull it off! Even mike portnoy cant do it...lol!! Steve comes from a metal background....so to anybody that says awe metals a bunch of noise an anybody can play it...ha!!! I played in a band called Crystal Web while this drummer, Steve Moore, was in a metal band called Brick Mistress in northern WV. We played some of the same places and I got to know him a bit back in the late 80s early 90s. Doubt he remembers. Lol. Super cool dude then.

have you done "the mad drummer at WOODSTICK"? its this guy at a drum festival (with the name being a pun on woodstock). he does a 5 min solo where he starts with some pianissimo stuff and builds something more artistic than one might expect. he's a fine drummer and humble too. there is a 30 sec interview with him where he mentions the "wrong gig" video being the only reason that he's gotten to meet his heroes.

Steve Moore as an entertainer performed a successful show in this video. His focus on performance art is reminiscent of Gene Krupa who was the first "famous" drummer. Krupa is probably best known for popularizing the drum solo but he was foremost an entertainer. Check out Steve Moore's latest KZbin offerings. He is also a great technician. His double kick drum work is outstanding.

I'm not a drummer, I'm a learning guitar player, I'm probably not into learning drums. However, a good drummer is the very important groove of any band, and this guy was no exception. Showmanship and talent and human groove will always be better than any drum machine. Drummers are not just a beat, they are musicians and ad valuable as any other person in the band.
