I love how his cymbal hits look like he's conducting an orchestra. Most drummers hit cymbals straight on, but II kind of whips his sticks at an angle to hit those crashes, and still manages to provide the correct accents each time. It's amazing.

Seeing II play these live gives a whole new perspective on their music and definitely makes me appreciate it way more! The technicality in Higher is just mind-blowing. He even threw in some extra spice as a treat and didn't miss a freaking stroke 🫠

He is truly a "waste no part of the animal" type drummer. Every bit is intentional and holds space, even the rests. The tings on the ands like little inhales before the next bar, his use of crash hits in lieu of straight hihat beats - he uses the whole kit like an entire instrument. My favorite oddity of his live perf is him playing the cymbal stand during Aqua Regia. The STAND. No other drummer makes me want to go straight to my kit to try new things. It's creative and fresh and not just keeping time.

Saw them twice in 3 nights in Sydney and live…these guys are spiritual, unlike anything you’ve seen before, I’ve seen lots of bands live but II is one of, if not the best drummer I’ve seen live
