Like Lynyrd Skynyrd, 38 Special, and Blackfoot, Molly Hatchet was formed right here in Jacksonville, FL. And like the lead singer, Danny Joe Brown, I also graduated from Terry Parker High School, only several years later. Obviously, he was older than I was, but I had a couple of teachers that remembered Danny. There is even a plaque inside the lobby honoring Molly Hatchet as they made a big donation to the school when they made great success. Hard to believe it's been 4yrs since the last original member passed, guitar great Steve Holland. RIP Steve and the entire band.

They're probably blocked because all members of this band are now deceased, and family / estates / probate are likely trying to access whatever revenue they can. I don't know, it's way above my paygrade, but .....R.I.P. Molly Hatchet. I actually shared some herb with a later version of the band when they came to our town in a later (tribute?) version of the band when Phil McCormack handled the vocals. He told me that the original singer, Danny Joe Brown had battled alcoholism along with numerous other ailments, but was an exceptional human being. Bruce Crump was one of the finest drummers of the 70's and 80's imho and that is saying something. His work on this album is a clinic for drummers everywhere. He spent his later years as an instructor / teacher of music. God bless him and Rest in peace boys. You sure made some glorious noise while you were here.

I told him nevermind!! But I did get to see them a few years later, jammin concert!!

Although the footage is grainy , the sound is solid of Molly Hatchet at New Jersey's Capitol Theater from 1978 . The video falls under "Historical Footage" because of it's early video days recording . Anyway there is a bunch of great videos out in youtube land from that era . The show I'm refering to is when Molly Hatchet opened for The Outlaws ( video of their part if the bill is out there too ) i'd seen the same show days before or after when it came to The Palladium in NYC . It was a true guitar lovers night of music 🙂

I had their first 2 albums so I sort of knew what to expect from them. I don't think they knew what to expect from us frost bitten Canadians. After their show we ended up calling them back for 3 encores. The last one they came out in their gym shorts and tee shirts to play. Just goes to show great music can transcend anything.

Lee, I'm a collector of Frank Frazetta books and posters from way back. Absolutely love his artwork. I noticed that "Dark Kingdom" poster on your wall the first time I found your channel. I don't know if you've ever read up on Frank Frazetta's life and career but the dude pretty much set the standard for "Fantasy art" today. He illustrated for famous publications, books, advertisements, movie posters, comic books and more since all the way back in the 1950s. His work spawned many excellent imitators such as Boris Vallejo and others but Frazetta's style is a look that can never be duplicated exactly! The man was one of the great artists imo.

Go back about 4 years and there was quite a dry period there where there was very little King Crimson even available on KZbin to watch. It had been there before and then it all disappeared because there was a huge legal battle going on of some sort with record or something, so they basically took it offline for a long time. And then finally the lawsuits were all settled, and fairly quickly it started populating back on KZbin. For that reason, it actually doesn't surprise me that also it might be still heavily blocked in terms of copyright stuff.

Gator Country is a cool song to do next. A tongue-in-cheek commentary of the rivalry between much of the southern fried rock at the time and the various southern states they came from vs Florida. Many mentioned in the song including Skynyrd, Allmans, Elvin Bishop, Charlie Daniels, Marshall Tucker and the Outlaws etc. Ironically (and prob as a joke) they take a shot at Skynyrd for Alabama even though they are from Jacksonville FL. Speaking of the Outlaws and Florida. If you haven’t done it already, Green Grass and High Tides is well worth checking out. The Florida Guitar Army. Hughie Thomasson, Billy Jones and Henry Paul. 10 min of 🔥
