One of John's most beautiful songs. There aren't many who have written such melodies. This is a song for Yoko. Jim Keltner is the drummer who most sounds like Ringo. The Beatles went to India to study Transcendental Meditation. It had a huge influence on the West, yoga, meditation, communes, etc. George stuck with Hinduism.
@lauraallen555 ай бұрын
I expect it is mainly for Yoko. I haven't seen any sources or quotes from John on this one, but it could be about more than just her, too. There could be a little about Cyn in as well. At the root of his pain was his upbringing of course, and what caused him to become a 'jealous guy' most likely in the first place; abandonment issues can come out in a lot of ways, and he had severe, extreme abandonment issues.
@redadamearth5 ай бұрын
It's not a song for Yoko. As Lennon has said many times, it was his apology for all of the women he beat up when he was younger. As he said, he would beat "any woman, every woman I was with, it didn't matter", and mercilessly, because he was insecure and constantly filled with an almost psychotic jealousy (Paul's talked about how insane Lennon was in the early years and how his jealousy turned him into a monster). He beat pretty much every woman he was with until he met Yoko. The lyrics were his apology to the women in his past that he physically abused, trying to explain that he was screwed up at the time. Lennon was a deeply messed up guy and extremely abusive for years. It was only after Yoko that he finally started to calm down.
@lauraallen555 ай бұрын
@@redadamearth I wonder why Paul said John had told him it was about Paul.
@Kieop5 ай бұрын
@@lauraallen55 I think this song is primarily directed at Cynthia and Paul, though it is an apology to everyone he ever hurt/drove away by trying to hold onto them too tightly. His abandonment issues made him possessive, jealous and codependent. He needed more from people than they could give. I don't think this is about physical abuse at all. The opening line hints that this song is also directed at Paul. He mentions the past, so it's not directed at Yoko. She gets her own apology songs. He and Paul shared a "dream" and Lennon songs that contain the word can be read as messages to Paul, though this view is not confirmed or universally accepted. I think Paul says that John told him Jealous Guy was about him, because that is exactly what John told him. I don't think it is ONLY about him though.

A much better song than the horrid "Imagine."

This is a different take for the vocal and not his best effort! Please do some research and stick to the released version.

This is a request like the big majority of what he reacts to. If you don't like it, you can officially request what you like! :)
