This is really closer to 1974 as it is January 75, Hotter Than Hell tour. I am on disability so can't donate. You really should check out 3 shows (as a fan since 1976 at age 3 , Gene calls me Queen of the KISS ARMY Trans Division, as you see on my vids I am an old school metal Tgurl. ) I hate Peter Criss with a passion. I love ALL ERA's of KISS. In January 75, they had a cult follow that was a bit bigger than you would think. True story, don't give a fuck if naysayers do not believe. They opened 2 times for Sabbath and they blew Sabbath of the stGe, just read the quotes from Ozzy and Geezer. Here is the deL. Check out 1975'LARGO, MD. The full show just surfaced. I have over 750 KISS bootlegs. Eric Carr is THE drummer, member that took them to a next level. You must check out: LARGO 1975, ANAHEIM 1976 AND A MUST...MUST BOTH RIO AND MONTREAL 1983 CREATURES TOUR with Eric on drums and Vinnie Vincent in lead guitar...talk about METAL KISS....THAT IS THE ERA.

The "Alive" era was definitely my favourite from KISS. Like you said, they were hungry. No-one except initial fans wanted anything to do with them. Their music wasn't being played on radio, and the music press did nothing but put $#it on them. Their first 3 LP's failed on the whole due to weak production, but the songs that were on those albums were some of their best. It wasn't until they took the huge risk of releasing a double live LP, "Alive!", that things really starting moving for them. Glad to see you enjoying your KISS journey so far.

This entire show is great. Kiss had not broken yet, so they were definitely hungry. If you want to check out Kiss right as they were breaking big, check out the January 1976 Detroit Cobo Hall concert. They still had the Alive! costumes. Later that year, they would go into the studio to record "Destroyer," and the rest, as they say, is Kisstory.

@@jeremiahrose4681 Yes, "Alive!" was the breakthrough. But "Destroyer," "Love Gun" and "Rock and Roll Over," cemented their popularity and showed that "Alive!" wasn't a fluke. The original band probably peaked in popularity, showmanship and musical ability about 1977-78. One could argue that they were still crazy popular in 1979 with the "I Was Made For Lovin' You" single and "Dynasty," album, but, in hindsight, concert ticket sales weren't all that great and the band was clearly falling apart.

I was 4 years old in 1976 when I first heard the live version of Rock And Roll All Nite and saw a picture of KISS. I was forever hooked. You haven't listened to Ace sing yet though. You gotta check out the live version of his signature song, Shock Me complete with flaming guitar solo. He actually wrote Gene's song Cold Gin on the first album and they wanted him to sing it but he wasn't confident enough in his singing ability. Even when he recorded Shock Me for the 1977 album, Love Gun, he sang it laying down in the booth with the lights off. And that song took on new meaning when, in Lakeland, FL, he was walking down the stairs on the stage. Some wire wasn't grounded properly and he got electrocuted, was unconscious for at least 10 minutes. This was at the beginning of the show, it was 77 or 78. Not only did he not go to the hospital, when he woke up, he played the rest of the show even though he could not feel his right hand at all. A right-handed lead guitar player who played almost an entire show when he couldn't feel his right hand and after being unconscious for 10 minutes.

Check his snare hand through the 6:00 - 6:26 mark. So quick! Also...although Peter and Ace were wrecks as the years went on, they were THE TWO guys in the band who you knew their unique sound or beat in 2 measures.
