Led Zeppelin in general is just the greatest rock band in history. Each of the members was the best at what they do, and together, combined with the greatest songs ever written, makes them the Holy Grail of rock and roll.

100% agree, there are many great rock drummers, to me Bonham just stands a little higher in the groove/talent aspect. Amazing skill, amazing drum sound, legend.

John Bonham was and always will be the GOAT. Not just because of his talent/ ability but his drumming has a feel to it that is his alone. It’s big and bombastic but at the same time it is tight and technical. It also has ( for lack of a better term) this dirty groove to it that you don’t get from other drummers. He was also a master of acoustics and sound. Even though he came along before all the technology we have today, he didn’t even need it. What a loss to the music world on the day he died. RIP John Bonham. You are surely missed😢

Nothing better than a 6.5"x14" Luddy [Ludwig] Ludalloy LM402 Supraphonic, with chrome over aluminum shell. Too bad the shell corrodes & pits over time. Chrome & Aluminum are opposites that don't get along all that well! ;) Cheers!

What a freakin' beast! Incredible power, stamina, coordinated independence, and dynamics. I'd say he was a percussionist, remarkably musical as a drummer. More so than one might expect in a heavy metal band. Simply sensational.

You said it, it's Bonham's swing that sets the tone for his solo's and his whole feel as a drummer... when you can start from those elements and just build off them (not easy) then as a drummer you're in rarified air.

The first kick on the kick drum hit me with a thud, umph, & then all hell broke loose!HA! Yea buddy! That night will live in my mind 4 ever! I SEEN them again in 75, & of course the sound system was bigger, but Bonzo remained Bonzo! Thanks JIMMY, ROBERT, J P J & B O N Z O!!!

I grew up listening to Bonham... There really was no one like him at the time.. His live show stamina, heavy hitting, footwork, use of Triplets, etc... Some of the signature beats he laid down were iconic and so influential.. His Shuffle Beat to Fool in the Rain was also one that is referenced by many.. He also had a great understanding of how to tune his Drums to achieve the sound & projection he wanted... Greatest Rock Drummer in History..

As a drummer I get loads of hassle,1. the single bass Drum Double strokes, I do heal and toe ..like bouncing off the skin on the bass, every one says its all ball of off heal ..I did my stuff on heal and toe ...his leg is not going big time upwards ..I love jazz ,,Crupa ,,Rich ,,double strokes ..Tuning ..He loved jazz drummers ...I just think its all mixed ...to what he felt ..subtle ..then all sing on everything for power ...Senstive I think ..then full on power ..which most Drummers today do all power, that has no subtle times ...he was great ...he just did his thing ..which is feelung ..if it works ..do ...no rules ..like all music! His way ...the best ..
