I remember watching this as it aired. I live in the UK and tuned in to watch Steve Vai. After seeing SRV, he instantly became my favourite guitarist. He still is to this day. So sorely missed. RIP Stevie.

I almost gave it up after listening to Steven Stills playing Black Queen... been at it for 50 years, and I think I finally got a handle on it. Stevie was also almost responsible for me surrendering after I was part of the Elmacombo audience in TO and hanging out too much at Jeff Healey's club drownding my sorrows after crappy lunch hour busking at Wellesley and Younge subway station.

Besides the strength and depth of his blues the other things that always get me are Stevie's unmatched speed, accuracy, and OMG the stamina to play that hard that fast for that long...Add to that talent the fact that he put himself through hell, then crawled back out of the drug and drink hole and still was just a down to earth, humble human being... What a guy...!!! I saw a show at Fitzgerald's in Houston as a kid and it's on KZbin... Over 2 hours in a small room and it was the first night with Tommy Shannon on bass... Give it a listen even if you can't react to it due to length.

Stevie is so likable. He was humble and kind, no matter where he was or what he was doing. His bandmates can attest to that. He never acted like he deserved big star treatment. It comes thru in this intimate setting. Glad we had him, if only for a short time. His reward must be great.🙏🎸

I am the “someone” who suggested it lol. I am glad you chose to check it out. I was fortunate enough to see him 6 times in concert. He absolutely tore your face off for an hour and a half. You left exhausted. I cried my eyes out the day he passed.

Arc angels band was created after Stevie died. Band consisted of Charlie sexton, double trouble and doyle bramhall II (son of Stevies writing partner) living in a dream is great song to check as well

Please do Stevie's presidential inauguration video. Its abt 26 mins. Jimmy his brother the band and another blues guy! Stevie was on fire in his tux. Its on yt and ive seen different pieces taken from it. But to watch the whole vid doesn't seem like 26 mins. Its sooo gd. You can see he felt honored to be on tht national platform with his crew and big brother

🙌👏🎶💯. Hey Lee👋 I know I was at least one of the people who suggested this one last time. He borrowed that 12 string to do that performance and he cracked the neck‼️💯. The owner of the guitar was offered a bunch of money to buy it and is on display in some restaurant. The owner has since regretted selling it! More must watch and no blocking problems, is his Soundcheck - what? It is a behind the scenes look at a 3 song, multiple guitars Soundcheck where Stevie just woke up, rubbing his eyes and yawning, then straps in and takes off. I'll come back with the link. Another different one is playing Pipeline with his older brother Jimmie. They are both playing a double neck guitar and you won't believe your eyes. Love this! You must watch Mary had a Little Lamb at Austin City Live. It also has some great keys in it by Reese but SrV’s performance is out of this world. Another great performance is Dirty Pool live in Montreux 1982 where he does a long session of Tremolo Strumming which is incredible! Love your reactions ❤

The last song is one of his early showcase songs named “Testify”. He used to play it often, and he played an electric version at El Mocambo, which is definitely worth seeing if you haven’t. Also “Mary Had a Little Lamb” the way he originally played it, and a cover of Hendrix’s “Little Wing”, which is maybe the most beautiful, stunning, unsettling thing he ever did that was caught on film. Most of his performances weren’t recorded. Film was fairly expensive to buy and develop, and it took up space. Stevie’s El Mocambo set was recorded because the cameraman was learning to use the camera to film a later show.

Love watching your SRV reactions! It doesn't look like you've done Tin Pan Alley with legend and inspiration Johnny Copeland at the Montreux Jazz Festival. I'm sure you'd love it! Thanks so much for sharing a love of music. I cried after seeing your response the song Guinevere by Crosby, Stills and Nash. It was magical when I first heard at 13 years old in 1969.

Think you'd love "Stevie Ray Vaughan Guitar Lesson" - its an interview with a bunch of playing live, but also he discusses his recovery and it is such a classic SRV insight... kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYvSiWmHZbp-bqM This vid right here is another ornament on the XMAS tree of greatness that is MTV Unplugged. Just like he played those .13 Guage strings on his Strat like it was nothing, the way he effortlessly blows through this set on a 12-String (takes some real extra level finger/hand strength to hold the strings down and sustain your tone)....how he just plows right into "Rude Mood" is unforgettable...very rare and limited music of SRV on acoustic, so this MTV Unplugged is a true treasure....sadly he near the end of his life here, but further proof you don't need those drugs or whatever to be good - in fact you are even better without. Sounds familiar as he played it on that Montreaux clip from last week as part of his opening medley. RIP SRV, thanks so much for the vid! Peace/
