He wrote this for his friend Charlie Wirtz who owned a guitar shop in Dallas. Charlie made Stevie the white guitar he switches to in the beginning. Charlie had died suddenly of a heart attack and this was his tribute to him

This is probably everyone's favorite performance. It has everything. Stevie wrote this song for his good friend Charley Wirz, a Dallas guitar shop owner, who had passed away suddenly. Charley built that white guitar out of parts for him and Stevie named that guitar after him. The sticker on the back is an upside down bare breasted hula girl. So he starts with a brown (or red?) guitar, had to tune a string after a few bars, looked to the side to get a new guitar. They brought out Charley and switched him out while he was still singing and playing never missing a beat. Since he changed guitars, he had to change the settings on his foot pedals and also the amps. You might not have heard anything different at first but those adjustments were necessary for later so he could play with the feedback and "sustain" chords with one hand for a length of time. You are surprised no one asks for the studio versions of anything? I "listen" to him in my car while driving but watching him perform contains so much more magic than a recording can ever impart. He gave his all to his audience and besides you can't see the passion and commitment he gives to each performance or see all his incredible abilities! He didn't start singing until his late teen years and didn't have a lot of confidence with his voice but worked on and developed his voice. I love his voice and how he can match his vocals to match the song. People are so blown away by his talent on the guitar that they dont pay much attention to his voice. Another vocal song from this same venue is another song Stevie wrote called "Ain't Gone 'N' Give Up On Love" kzbin.info/www/bejne/bmOTpmiXhpJ7iMk also "Couldn't Stand The Weather". I know you will love both of these. Great reaction and keep Stevie coming🎸🎶‼️ you have barely scratched the surface and you will really enjoy a continued look. ✌️💙

@@wesalker3479 he learned from Lou Ann no doubt. He also asked Angela Strehli to teach him how to sing Texas Flood and learned it so well that Angela gave up singing that song as Stevie just owned it. I think mostly he needed to gain confidence around his voice. I have always admired his vocals.

That he was. I was honored to meet him months before the crash. He came out after the set, most ppl had left, but he came out, sat on the edge of the stage n shook everyone's hand n chatted them up until the last remaining fan was done. I talked with him for bout 5-10 minutes about playing, etc. He was truly interested in his fans. Still feels like I lost a family member.

I remember watching an interview with him once where the guy kept going on about how SRV he was an all-time great, and he looked bored and uncomfortable with the subject. Then the interviewer mentioned Hubert Sumlin, and immediately Stevie's eyes lit up with excitement. He always wanted to talk about the greats who inspired him, never about himself.

This message made me cry knowing that Stevie Ray Vaughan had a horrific childhood and started drinking when he was 8 yrs old. His brother Jimmie Vaughan did an interview, he said they had an violent abusive alcoholic father who beat them all the time but Stevie Ray always got it the worst and didn't know why. I thought to myself I know exactly why, my mother popped her pill and beat me, locked me in a cold dark basement with no windows and a dirt floor, beat me with a board that had nails in it and I had 6 sisters and 2 brothers but like Stevie Ray I was the smallest, very emotional and cried easy so it fell on me the most but I never considered myself a victim but a surviver and better person because of it and have a beautiful happy life. Stevie Ray had his issues like many children that experience that kind of childhood but he was never bitter, angry or hateful, he had so much love and respect for everyone and a beautiful man. My total respect and love to him for the amazing music and encouraging words.

The day Stevie died me and my excellent guitar player husband cried our eyes out, for days... A great fact is that Stevie overcame alcohol and reached the height of his career sober. There is a statue of him in the park by the river in Austin Texas, and on the statue they even included his AA ring on his right hand. I went there in 2019 and just cried for a while, didn't expect to react like that but the emotion of his statue just blew me away. He was the best.

Brother you have found out how really special SRV truly was. I'm going to give you his most brilliant masterpiece that can heal your soul whenever your down or need some sort of healing therapy. God gave us Stevie and God took him back after he did this masterpiece he nailed it in the Austin Texas concert, and the piece is called "Riviera Paradise" but you must grab the version from the Austin Texas concert brother, you are about to be amazed 🙌 😉 Thank me later bro, its the most beautiful thing you will ever witness coz while everyone showed off at that time by playing real fast, SRV showed the skillz by playing it slow and soft with such finess and control. You even get a special solo thrown in by is pianist Reece for added free bonus. But see if you can spot Stevie' sweetest quick flurry thrown in there just to let you know he can bring it anytime if he wanted too lol, its so sweet. Can't wait for your reaction to it brother you will luv the brother all over again. Oh and no one really reacts to this piece because he had trouble getting it out just perfectly like his studio version of this tune, but after this you will like this version way more than his studio version but only from this Austin Texas concert ok. Please react to it please please please... thanx mate..

Stevie did a great job singing and it was meaningful and passionate. There is a documentary on Stevie that goes through the history of his rise and ending up leading a band. He loved the blues and always, always respected the black men that brought us the blues. Number One is a 59 Strat, though Stevie thought it was a 57 Strat. The buttons he is pushing is reverb, compression, reverb and distortion to provide that punch you hear.

It's easy to miss so much that is happening in this amazing video. He motions to his stagehands (after fiddling with the tuning) for a guitar change (Charley), drops his pick and picks it up, works on the amplifiers, gives one of the greatest speeches of all time, then losses a tooth. If you can read lips, you see him look to the side and say, "lost a tooth...it's gone"...as you see him looking for it on stage. Great man. Great guitarist. From my hometown of Dallas, Texas! Loved and revered here. RIP Stevie.

"Lovestruck Baby"/"Rude Mood" at Daytona Beach are awesome. Stevie Ray is having such a blast at that concert (as are Tommy, Chris, Reese, and the audience), especially when Stevie is literally dancing as he plays "Lovestruck Baby"! Then, the moment he finishes, he takes off like a rocket doing "Rude Mood" at hyperspeed! When the GOAT delivers so expertly and effortlessly, and delivers with a double portion of joy... whoo hoo! SRV is utterly exhilarating, giving us everything in his soul to deeply satisfy us... and keeps us wanting more... of his singing, his playing, his inspiration, and his true, humble, and loving heart.

I saw him twice live, the second time with Jeff Beck. As much as I respect all the old legends, he was my favorite. He’s the only one that you felt like your soul was being ripped out of your body. So sad that after he got clean and sober, he kept getting better and better. He was taken way too young. I miss what he could have done going forward, but in his short time on earth, he left a legacy that will live forever. He was an amazing human being first, and a phenomenal guitarist second.

I started seeing SRV back in the day...college days down in Austin, Tx 1978. We used to see him up close and personal at The Continental Club for $1 cover every Friday night. He knocked around other bands in Dallas and Austin until he was 29 years old before he really rose as a front man singer. He really worked hard perfecting his singiing. Just like his playing...to me he's the greatest guitarist there ever was.

I'm not normally a person into reaction videos, but you turned up on my feed for some reason, and it happened to be a video That's been on my playlist for years. As mentioned by several other commentators, as a guitarist myself I can tell you he's tweaking his amps to improve sustain and feedback. I'm now a subscriber, and I'm going to suggest you check out "Look at Little Sister" from Austin City Limits in I believe 1988 or 1989. He broke his number one E string on that one just as he did here, and his professionalism, and that of his guitar tech, is unbelievable. But this video made me a fan of you, sir. I was an SRV fan before be was killed, and I'll never forget hearing that news flash that he'd been killed. It's great to see him being appreciated by people who weren't around on that awful day. Keep up the great work, my man.

I love how you have so much love and true appreciation for who he was and his humanitarianism. I don't think I've ever read a bad word about Stevie. Your reaction is spot on. It appears even the band is astonished with what he's doing. Voodoo Chile always seems to take him somewhere. I believe he's channeling Jimi. He's on tge couch playing, she grabs his guitar and starts smashing it, he reaches behind the couch and grabs another one. His closet is full of guitars. For her b day, he gets her necklace with a guitar pendant and a guitar b day cake. They're on a roof restaurant and she throws him off the roof. Gotta check it out. Funny stuff.

I'm going to guess that playing and singing was just the way Blues was. It's where it came from back in it's early days. The man expressing his emotions through his words and his playing. I think the man singing with his guitar, is Blues in its purest form. But...... I wasn't there. I'm old but not that old. Doesn't matter though, I just love it, however it was arrived at.

I believe when he was adjusting his amps and other boards in back, he was going for the just the right sound he wanted. In this case he was adjusting the sustain, I think. Several places in the song he plays a note and just let's it the note go for a while. And the notes to me sounded sad, like someone was wailing. After all, it was a song he wrote for Charley, a guy that kept his guitars in tune. I think that decal on back of the white guitar is an attractive woman laying on a couch or sofa of sorts.

He changed guitars mid song. And he was adjusting the amp to the newer guitar.

You can’t pick between he and Jimmy Hendrix who is best. It just goes down to preference. They are neck and neck.
