Johann Calderon No he's not, he also has about a gazillion side projects, a solo project and plays in a jazz quartet. And he also plays a half a dozen traditional Greek instruments. I believe you're talking about his swivel technique also.

The day I need to play a back beat on top of alternating 5 stroke rolls with my feet is the day I get hit by lightning 3 times and then that night I win the lottery and the Toronto Maple Leafs win the Cup. Plus I only use one kick pedal so that further reduces the chances.

Amen brother ! ...you hit the nail on the head ,,i agree with your sentiments exactly . Ringo was perfect for them ...and the point i made earlier , was that even Lang {with all his obvious skill } would have to lay back and groove in an uncomplicated style to make that amazing music work ...i know you can see that too -your a smart fella .

once you get to high end equipment, its all about preference. its all quality gear, its more about what you like and what you're comfortable with. i personally don't prefer the 9000, but i love the 5000 series. they are, however very adjustable. you can adjust the cam to the type of feel you like. I'm not a fan of the "turbo" cam, which is similar to the rolling glide from tama. but i like the accelerator, which is like the iron cobra power glide.
@drmrdude0412 жыл бұрын
drums are instruments and sometimes the sound of a 12 inch or 16 inch tom is what works, but it might be an 8 inch tom or a 6 inch octoban. or maybe just a well stacked cymbal stacker combo.

i agree mostly, and developing that necessitative creativity is much easier learned on a smaller set. but AFTER you've done that, you have to get back to the essence of the instrument. Its called the "trap" set because originally it was a contraption that was put together out of semi-random percussion instruments. the player built his own according to his/her needs and desires and tastes. that in and of itself is creativity. creating blueprints out of your own percussive proclivities = evolution

Good points ...and i concede that . Its just that sometimes these kinds of musicians just get into an overplaying zone ...and it takes maturity to see that . But you are right about personal taste & preference ...is this JUST technique ? I thought it was also music ? However ...if you want chops - you certainly get em with this bloke ! But i hear you ..and you make some good points - I'm just a grumpy old bastard !
@richogem11 жыл бұрын
probably, but being able to do that solely will indicate a level of control or achievement you have made with your feet. it's not like we do the ruidmental ritual because we're gonna play it live sometime, but to get our muscles used to doing certain patterns that we are going to play. if you've never played a double stroke roll in a drum fill or a drum groove you play, well i wouldn't say you're very creative!
