Ben I waited until I was safe but it took 47 years in the closet to be safe. Now I'm in a nursing home but happier than ever

I just found your channel and subscribed. Really enjoying your content and vibe so far. I can identify so much with what you talk about regarding coming out. I am almost 40 and grew up in a pretty conservative family, but my parents and brother have been very accepting and I think always had a feeling that I'm gay. Sadly both my parents have passed away within the last 7 years... my mom in 2017 and my dad last year. I feel like the security and acceptance that they gave me is now something that has been lost with them and I don't feel like I can be as authentic with my family that is still living. I don't mean to make this reply so depressing, but watching your video just brought up a lot for me and it feels good to get this off my chest. I have yet to have my first in-person sexual experience with another guy, but like a lot of the things that have happened in my life, it will when the time is right. Thanks for reading. 🙂

I am very glad that you said that you have found it possible to be Christian and gay. I am incardinated in an independent Catholic denomination, called the American Catholic Church in the United States, which is very open to the lgbtq+ community. We have gay priests like me, encourage participation in the sacramental life of the church, and perform gay weddings. Good for you! Hope you find a life full of love!

Thanks for commenting. Glad there are more people out there that still believe in God and aren’t ashamed of being gay as well.

I can identify with so much of this -- the needless self-doubt and the cautious forays forward. I'm glad there are reasonable voices like yours out there. Screaming and waving banners doesn't help individuals much; straightforward talks like yours do.

I am Protestant and I am gay. I learnt to accept my sexuality many years ago. If you can't accept your sexuality, you will feel guilty of your sexuality and live in denial.

It's a shame that fear, guilt and shame imposed by society and religion can inflict such pain and sorrow on young people who are just trying to discover and embrace their humanity.

I can understand how it must have felt with that friend staying with you; I get annoyed a little when people are in my space too, with their things. I can also understand what it might feel like to want to hide your journal when there are people around also, as there might be a chance they would want to look at it. I hope to watch more of your videos!

I also get sentimental about losing clothes to wear. This much more interesting than most coming out stories. Sex is important ..sorry you had to wait so long. Life is short. A moral of your story could be Fear less, Love more and don't be afraid to experiment.

Matthew Vines and his KZbin video on "god and the gay christian" and his book of the same title really helped me reconcile my faith and my sexuality. God loves us so much regardless of our sexuality.
@manchestertart56145 жыл бұрын
Shouldn't be a throw away society, there are so many videos on KZbin showing how to repair your jeans,even if you hand sew them. If you don't sew, someone else could do it for you. Then you could donate them if you don't want them anymore. 😘😘

Really enjoyed your video. I’m glad you reconciled your faith and your sexuality-a persons relationship to however you view the universe is very important to their sense of self. You’re right about the jeans-wasted time trying to fix a crotch rip-only made it worse lol. And your lighting is fine. 😉

I am a samsung person. I keep a journal.... I have to take it everywhere, my mom read my last one, she can't read this much. Too much personal stuff in it, and she is not really okay with the whole "gay" thing..... I am probably meant to be single right now too, I'm only 15, I probably should focus elsewhere.... I am out about everywhere but to my parents, even though my dad "figures"..... Your a cute person btw (not hitting on you) and being scared is perfectly normal, I have yet to have my "total gay experience with a guy I am into more than sexually".. Guess its not easy to find that kind of guy...At least in the "gay world"
@DrummondCulture8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the message James. You're growing up in a world that has a lot more acceptance for you than a lot of us have had in the past. So don't let that acceptance go to waste. Stand up for your rights and your ability to love who you want to love. Silence will not get you anywhere. But a strong voice will bring you to place you never thought were possible. That's a lesson I learned in college and continue to learn everyday since then.

It was nice to come across your video. You are a nice guy with a nice heart. You cover such a wide variety of things in your video and through this, the viewer is able to get to understand you better. I hope that you find your one soon, but remember that when it comes to someone else coming into your life, they will not be you, they have a different up-bringing and environment. That means you have to learn to compromise and accept things for the value of their personage and for a relationship, even at its most early stages. Good luck to you!
