"What feels comfortable when you play" he said. AMEN. For the first 13 years of my drumming career I went from this stick to that stick. Then, in 1980 while taking drum lessons from Sam Evans (The United States Army band, Pershing's Own) he introduced me to Regal Tip by Calato 5A nylon tip). THAT STICK is the only stick that I have used since then. It suits me perfectly, whether I'm playing jazz, rock, funk, etc. DAVID SAELENS Rock Island, IL. (posted 17 September 2018).

I love the Steve Gadd sticks with nylon tips. I’ve been playing with them for three years, and they’re just about perfect.

I use a 5B nylon tip drumstick for 6yrs from 8th-12th grade now I am in my adult life now but I still love drumming. I use Vic Firth but I am thinking about switching to Pro-Mark 5b Nylon tip stick when I use it for percussion I fell in love with the 5b Nylon tip and I love the shock of Vic Firth Stick. I am a self-taught drummer and I had drum lessons at my school in Lake Geneva Wisconsin.

i used the 2b to increase my speed, it did work for me, know a days i buy those bundles when the stores have a super deal like, 10 pairs $10, usually they are 5a and no brand name, they sometimes last longer than the brand ones, other than that i use vater rock nylontip (in which they forgot to explain)

As a death metal drummer one of my biggest mistake was thinking "lighter sticks, means faster drumming"! I started noticing that something was wrong when I felt that my 8D drumsticks would start moving alot in my hands and I got tired in my arms because I had to hit so hard... now I mostly use X5BN and sometimes 2B sticks!

I like 7A's for soft music, funk and a little bit of jazz because I feel like I have more control over the dynamics and accents but like the video says it's all about preference.

Yes I agree exactly.Size 7A is very cool to play Jazz,Funk and Latin.When I hold their in my hands I feel that can every play on my drumset..Secret:Balance,light.Great sound drumset and Cymbals.But sometimes I play Rock I use fat drumsticks something like 3A nylon tip

I would honestly say that Vic Firth is probably one of my favorites stick companies

i play rock, dave grohl, John Bohnam, keith moon, neil peart, but i still love and have no volume issues with 7A's. just use nylon tips, with a thick neck and as durable of a material as possible. Japanese Oak is a good one
@JorikD12 жыл бұрын
I used 7AN while growing up but switched to 5AN (N = nylon tip. I use it for more ping on the ride) I found when doing the moeller technique on a snare you can feel witch drumsticks work for me.. just after a few seconds you'll be making little mistakes or at least you'l feel a little discomfort with the wrong sticks

i started with 5A then moved to 3A and now i'm using 55A which are pretty cool ;) i've been using vicfirth and Ahead mostly ;)

AHEAD Joey Jordison sticks...amazing sticks and seem to work for me...gonna try out some other Ahead signature sticks...only thing about them is they're quite expensive for drum sticks, and a bit heavier...but they dont damage your drums or cymbals any more then a wooden stick, and they'll last much longer then a wood stick...i would have to recomend Ahead to anyone:P

Yes , an inperfect tip can create divits on the surface of the drum head. Thus this could shorten the life span of the head.

I have used 5A's from the start, but I have started to try different styles. I went from a Vater 5A to Travis Barker Signature sticks(just to try 'em...they marked everything white!) to Vic Firth Ex 5AN's......I love these sticks. Is it just me, or are signature sticks just a gimmick to sell something with a brand name on it like Zildjian? Why use Z sticks??? Go with a drumstick brand. Zildjian makes good cymbals, not so good sticks.

imo, and ive been playing drums for 4 years now, the shape and size of a drumstick and a stick's tip doesnt really matter, well atleast it doesnt affect my playing atall, i forget about the sticks after the 1st few bars of a song anyway
@iamamaggot66615 жыл бұрын
ya i dont have grip tape and like you said...they tend to go flying sometimes...but ya get used to them lol...but ya i wouldnt mind getting a pair of Lars Ulrich sticks...along with some Tommy Lee sticks...i want to try a bunch and then just use the ones i like the most but ya...expensive sticks...but definitely worth it guys:P

Anyone uses 7A? What are they best used for? And what is the major difference between A and B
@flstudiopresents7 жыл бұрын
I like the extremes, a little bit longer than the regulars, they dont have them for 7as but that's what an 8d is a longer 7a, I use those for when the 5A extremes don't cut it. Also steve jordan signature was the best drumstick I ever used, very similar to an 8d, but it doesnt come in nylon tip and i chipped half the wood tip off within 4 hours of buying them :'( I also have a pair of 8ds from 12 years ago i still play now and then, they look like harry potter wands lol

A is soft lights B is biggest and hardest.

I remember as a kid taking band, we were told to use 2B drumsticks for what ever reason. Holy hell, were they ever big in my little kid hands. I remember a friend of mine had 7As and they felt so much better. I think the bigger sticks might have been to help prepare for marching band mabye, I'm not sure. I use 2Bs all the time now.

hi everybody. i have a Q. lightweight stick's are better or heavyweight? for example vic firth a5 are 3.2 ounce. i bought a pair recently from a chinese company and it's about 2.7 ounce. beside the break problem, which one is better for better rebound?
@delta_racing15 жыл бұрын
well normally not but in some cases the tips have a really bad rebound and they lose their attack on the ride and hihat

This is my opinion to everyone...never use Ahead drumsticks. Why? I quote this from a professional "When people come in here and complain about their cymbals breaking and cracking I ask them,what drumsticks do you use? They answer with saying that they use Ahead drumsticks." That's just my opinion,don't hate on me for it.

A is for Average and B is for Big?
@finaldrumer9 жыл бұрын
Made Evan P As far as I know A stands for "Acoustic" and B for "Band". Meaning for example that a 5A and a 5B are somewhat close in diameter and design (shaft, tip, proportions), but 5A is for more of a lighter feel and sound (therefore "acoustic" or small group), and a 5B is for a heavier feel and sound ("band", like bigger band/Big Band). Placing the idea in context would be like in a small jazz group for a small venue a 5A would be the right choice, and in a big bang band a 5B would work better because you need more projection and a louder sound. I repeat, that's as far as I know, not sure if it is right or not, but it seems to make sense. At least with the 5A and 5B example, which is the one I was given.
