I can listen to Virgil Donati for hours on end. He defies description. Single handedly expanded musical expression and vocabulary through the roof to the edges of the universe.

Groundbreaking grooves here! Amazing how that last lick turned into Eleven Pt.2

Virgil did a clinic in Clearwater about 10yrs ago. Played a double-stroke roll with his feet. Up to 220. He really did this.

Jerry Mammoser he’s the first to master it. But its becoming the common thing for death metal drummers
@flooper84414 жыл бұрын
@@Skeletal33 true but also false, death metal drummers do use it but they need triggers to amplify the sound so you can hear it. Virgil doesn't need triggers and can play doubles with different placed accents. The only death metal drummer that I know who can do doubles as powerful, clean and without triggers is Derek Roddy.

Are they on one level with Brain and Claypool? I say clearly not...It lacks groove.
@Bowl019864 жыл бұрын
In these time signatures, that you probably haven't even heard of, it totally grooves. I would say they're a few levels higher. Also, you mention Brain instead of Tim Alexander, really? XD

Virgil is literally 50x better than any drummer Primus has ever had; but, yes, these guys dont have the groove Primus does

This is good, but for a proper drum and bass jam see Chris and Kevin's Excellent Adventure by Liquid Tension Experiment. Now that's what I call a symbiosis of drums and bass.

Great bass player, but shitty tone

too much emphasis on speed...nothing sweet or memorable...

Man that tone on bass sounds like farts why doesnt anyone tell him that. It makes the drums sound bad.
