Carmango was no punk either. He actually was the defense attorney in some high profile cases in his short career in Las Vegas. He actually was lead counsel for Rick Tabish in the Binon murder case. For those that don't know, Binon was the son of the founder and current owner of the Horseshoe Casinos and Harrahs in Indiana I believe. A clear case of guilt but he pulled it off, and for Tabish and his girlfriend. The girlfriend was Binon's girlfriend too at the time of death. Interesting case, classic Vegas love triangle, murder, casinos and everything in between.

I have a feeling the Judge was playing the long game. Ultra polite, noted dozens of times her interest in protecting the rights of the defendant so as not to prejudice his next trial (which was assured by his drunk defense attorney) and showing compassion to the drunk attorney to not create a scene for the defendant to use, but basically damning him with feint praise for when his hearing for disbarment comes around. She's got a guy accused of a life sentence for serious crimes she wants to get a fair hearing and justice for the community and a drunk idiot and balanced thing pretty darn well IMO.

Hi Mike. I’m enjoying your videos; the algorithm just hooked me up today. Please take this comment in the most supportive way possible, from a retired Toronto lawyer. I think sometimes you get really focused and end up unknowingly staring into the camera, even though you do blink. Maybe you’re concentrating hard and trying to get the lines out perfectly? You have a great smile and expressive eyes which draw the viewer in much more than the ‘accidental stare’, when you instinctively use them. KZbin is so much more intimate and impulsively judgmental than a courtroom, isn’t it? Subtle things nobody can notice from the bench or jury box... Congrats on finding the time to put these videos together when there’s ALWAYS something more ‘urgent’ that you have to put off. Again, I think they’re good and I’m just trying to give you some helpful feedback. Best wishes for continued success.
@LawTalkWithMike3 жыл бұрын
Thank You for the feedback. That seriously means a lot to me. I think you have a good point. I don’t exactly know how to fix it but I know what you are saying. I have had other suggestions to maybe move the camera back. BTW I never take offense. You are clearly coming from a good place and I’m honored you took the time to tell me your thoughts.
@whatifschrodingersboxwasacofin3 жыл бұрын
@@LawTalkWithMike Thanks for the nice reply. I don’t think it’s a distance issue - I personally thought the size of your head on the screen was appropriate. Maybe just stick a post-it right above your camera lens so you don’t have to move your eyes to see it. On the post-it put a simple graphic - silly, stupid, or just a smiley face - to remind you to change your face. It doesn’t matter really how you change it, as long as everything but your mouth isn’t remaining static. Watch a Derek Van Shaik yt video to see what TOO MUCH exuberance looks like. He’s a body language expert with good insights, but I find him exhausting. If you even hit 40% of what his face does in a video I think you’ll be more proud of your work. I appreciate your sentiment about my time. I had to retire early at 55 because the PTSD from childhood sexual assault by a fundamentalist minister and my doctor finally caught up with me. Kinda crashed and burned, but managed not to get sued. As a result, I take offence very easily, despite a dozen years of high-end therapy, and assume others will, too. Thus the disclaimers. People tend to perceive even my kindest efforts as prickly, and they’re sure quick to attack a downed lawyer. The Canadian system doesn’t believe you can recompense the psychological damage with money (so, $60k for therapy, past & future, and little to no damages for lost revenues is somehow better??!!), and time is about the only thing I have a lot of these days. Good thing the house is paid off and yt is free. Lol. I would apologize for over-sharing, but the issue of childhood sexual abuse against boys really needs to become a public discourse so the shame can dissipate. I was silenced for 40 years and now I can’t stop the flow! Looking forward to more of your videos. Have a great holiday season.
@LawTalkWithMike3 жыл бұрын
@@whatifschrodingersboxwasacofin Thank You First that is a good suggestion. I actually watched one of my own videos and I agree. I am not staring in to the camera because I think it is a great idea. I just sort of do it by default. Sorry to hear what you went through. Canada sounds like the United States as far as those sorts of injuries go. I also do not mind those sorts of discussions. Psychological injuries and more specifically male psychological injuries are just not taken seriously. I did not realize this until recently but these videos are very therapeutic for me. This was not intentional it just seems to work out that way. Share a few laughs with like minded people and you feel better. It is that simple.
@whatifschrodingersboxwasacofin3 жыл бұрын
@@LawTalkWithMike It’s really amazing what we can find therapeutic, isn’t it? You keep creating them, and we’ll keep watching them, and we’ll all feel better! I know for a fact that the best way to feel good about yourself is really, simply, to help someone else.
@whatifschrodingersboxwasacofin3 жыл бұрын
@@LawTalkWithMike Hey, here’s an idea! We don’t know each other, but we seem to have a good rapport. Why don’t you pretend you’re talking to me? That way you’ll naturally emote more. My PTSD has done a number on my short-term memory, and I need refreshers often, so maybe if you pretend you’re just explaining stuff to me instead of to a generalized mass audience it will feel less like a zombie-lecture (sorry, that’s way overdramatic, but you get the point - and you said you’re not easily offended, so I’m holding you to that! ROFLOL). Just a thought on a bleak afternoon.

I had an attorney show up to court intoxicated. His client was planning to enter a guilty plea. The individuals behavior was very unusual. My judge had me bring him and the prosecutor back to his chambers to talk. The judge had to inquire of the attorney. This was at 1:30pm and he said he'd had a few beers. The judge had to inform him that he could not give his client full and proper representation or legal counsel when he's drunk. The judge had to report him to the State Bar association where the law license was suspended for a period of time and perhaps other punishment or treatment orders. I felt horrible for his client.
