Daddy in my wildest dreams I will never play guitar as good as you but you have really helped me focus on my tone, you've introduced me to Travis picking and truly keep the coals burning. I'm sorry for commenting so much Daddy, I just feel very humbled and blessed to have found you. Thank you Daddy for your sweet time..

This is one of your best performances to me, so much swing. It definitely reminds me of Memphis Minnie. Inspires me to want to revisit her catalogue.

Amazing how you can sing and play this relatively fast fingerpicking piece at the same time! If I even think of singing and picking a note at the same time...... Great song!

I was like this for the first 8 years of playing guitar. What worked for me was to pick out the bass notes in songs and practice playing them with my singing (and NOT singing to the bass notes.) Once you do it enough, the rest should naturally follow. peace

daddystovepipe Those guitars like Sears and Harmony and Stella were cheap catalog guitars back in the day. How in the world do you get them to sound and play this good? That guitar sounds like a very expensive high quality guitar. It has an amazing tone. And you seem to pick it with ease. I would like have one like that. Thank you for responding to my post.

I bought it on Ebay for about $1200 (I think about 10 years ago). It needs a neck reset though, I shaved the saddle as far as I could so the action is ok again but but the strings are closer to the top now and my thumbpick hits the body sometimes. The Lindbergh or Handikraft model was a high end guitar (there are even fancier versions with pearl trim) as they have excellent mahogany and were built very lightly. Modern guitars are 'overbuilt' and way too heavy as manufacturers want to avoid warranty hassles. These 'catalog' guitars from the 20ies were made fast and had a few cheaper appointments (no ebony fretboards for example) but they were made by excellent craftsmen from Italy.
