I used to play viola in 5th grade. I finally decided to try violin many years later. I git very discouraged when I snapped 2 strings trying to tune it. Put my violin away for over a year. But I kept th8nking about this song specifically and wanting to play it. Finally I buckled down, got the replacement strings, and tuned my violin without snapping them. Had to look for a tutorial, and this is the one I found. 2 sessions. It took me 2 sessions of about 15 minutes each to get this memorized! I am SO happy! A dream I've had for years, finally realized! THANK YOU!!

I have to ask: how long have you been playing? I have had about 8 lessons and my playing often sounds like a cat dying! Your notes have a very pure tone. Thank you!!!

Thank you! I've been playing for about 16 years, but you can definitely get a nice tone in less time than that. Keep working on your bow hold, relaxing the bow hand, and then on further good bow technique - 95% of good tone comes from how we use the bow!

What violin is this? Sounds so great!

Haha, that's a good question. I got my violin off of someone who found it in their uncle's attic, and had it fixed up. It's probably an early-mid 20th century copy of a Collin-Mezin violin, and not worth very much, but I'm fond of it and it does the job!

Is anyone interested in an application that listens to you while you play on the violin and gives you a score?

0:17 what does these symbols means?

Those are bowing/articulation markings. The curved line over the two notes is called a slur, which usually indicates to play both notes in one bow. The dot over the second note of those two means that it has to sound slightly separated. The V's above the notes indicate that both of them are up bows. Basically it means you have to play both notes in an upbow, with the bow pausing between the two notes so that it doesn't sound like they are connected.
