This is one of the reasons I like about Spike; being the only (and now first) dragon to learn about friendship is that he can now show the dragons that there is another and better way to live instead of hoarding worthless things, and this way he could lead by example.
@Xizyx6 жыл бұрын
Great artwork and voicing by everyone involved. Caitbug really captured the subtle underlying insecurity Spike exhibits when he's forced to sit down and talk things out. It's funny how he complains that other dragons don't want to talk about their feelings, when he's actually doing the same thing in an indirect way. It's like he keeps himself busy all the time just so he doesn't have to be alone with his thoughts - thoughts that bubble to the surface that include the pain of wondering who his biological parents were and whether they're still alive, worries about outliving most of his friends, and where he can find his place in a world that doesn't lend itself for someone like him who doesn't quite fit in either pony or dragon society. He's a dragon with an armor of scales to protect him from physical attacks, but in a similar way he uses sarcasm, boastfulness, and overconfidence to hide the emotional anxieties he exhibits from time to time like in "Equestria Games" or "Triple Play". In general he is a happy, optimistic individual. But when he's not in control, he's either very down on himself or just panics outright. It's like under that tough outer shell is a very fragile being, and you don't have to dig very deep to undermine that projection of outward happiness. Meeting Ember (and presumably Smolder now as well) seems to have helped heal some of the insecurities over being a so-called "ghastly creature" (as his crush once said about dragons). He is really proud of his species now, even with malcontents like Garble still causing trouble from time to time. Maybe if we ever learn more about his parents in the future he can also put that worry to rest as well? The ending of the video seems to hint at a sequel. Did Spike sign that photo himself? Did he actually put together the whole basket and the story about it being from Twilight was a white lie? Something seems to be bothering him and it wouldn't surprise me if it was related to one or more of the issues surfaced above.

I kinda love how the office keeps changing. It reminds me of the Tardis in a way. Always changing to suit the doctor's, or in this case the patient's, needs. Only with the office it's more like the office changes to fit what the patient would find "Comfortable" and "Relaxing" kinda makes me wonder how the office would change for a pony that's...say a boxer as a example.

The writing for Spike was great here, I loved that he was portrayed with a more mature understanding of how the conversation was going, the meaning behind the topics and a bit of confidence in himself without being arrogant. On a side note, does anyone know what happened with Celestia's A moment with Dr Wolf? I know the auditions were about a year ago.

Who's next? My recommendation is 1, Big Mac dealing with his importance in his family, 2, Trixie fearing about her bad habits affecting her friendship, 3, Celestia worrying about no longer being able to teach Twilight Sparkle personally.
@JonathonWilder6 жыл бұрын
Light Heart I can also see Celestia being frustrated and how little she seems to be able to good for her kingdom, perhaps even missing the days she felt more useful or was able to save the day by the side if her sister. Maybe even bring up how others have begun questioning her capabilities and ability rule. This admittedly being more towards the fandoms perspective, and possibly even the writers, but it could be written that they were simply subjects or others from a more in workd perspective.

@Draconicus7026 жыл бұрын
Rex the Extreme Werewolf agreed, I especially hate how the shows biggest reason why he can't help the mane 6 is because he's a baby dragon and is too young, but then it turns around and makes him take just as much if not more physical abuse then the full grown ponies around him?....and a lot of that physical abuse is caused by the mane 6 themselves. And Spike's gotten pretty much no real character development since Practically every Spike centered episode has Spike seem to loose all the knowledge and just common sense he's already been shown to posses, just so he ends up causing the problem that needs to be fix.

Sweet :) It would've been nice if they had brought up Spikes visit to Dragontown in Fillydephia from the IDW comics; it's where he met Mina and realized while there are many bad dragons there are also many bad ponies (his disastrous first trip to dragon lands soured his views on dragons and made him believe he was more a pony.) and that there are good dragons. It was here that Spike finally accepted his dragon heritage in a positive light, even helping the town change the city's POV of them.

It's good that Spike gets a therapy visit from Dr.Wolf and yet I'd feel for the little guy I'd have the same struggles in life and feel the exact same way the only difference is I'm a magical talking 4th wall breaking pony and Spike is a Dragon

This is a very well planned out lesson for anyone who thinks the same way as spike. Especially since the great act of kindness can do more than just make someone’s day brighter, it can also save lives.
0:53 there's Dr. Wolf and Mrs. Wolf sitting in front of Spike's statue in the Crystal Empire. Nice. Also, I like the picture of Dr. Wolf and Twilight on top of the gift basket One other thing about this video, or more specifically the part where Spike says "the last colt picked for a team." That happened to me quite a few times back when I was in High School. I get you, Spike. I get where you're coming from.
@earthbind836 жыл бұрын
Okay, I admit I hadn't thought of it like that. I only viewed Spike as the dude who is at the receiving end of many jokes and who gets abused a lot, but him wanting to be useful because he feels out of place and wanting to show everyone that he can contribute to the pony community while being a dragon makes sense. You have a knack for closing plot-holes, doc. Good job and thanks for opening my eyes to this perspective! :-)

Now that Spike has finally had HIS therapy session, may I suggest either Discord, or revisiting the Mane Six one on one again, preferably starting with another Fluttershy or Rainbow Dash session? You know, when Dr Wolf said Spike can 'impress those virtues on other dragons', it made me think... Why can't he also impress them on the ponies? As I'm sitting here thinking back on all Spike has done over the seasons, and how Dr Wolf is right, he doesn't take the virtues he's learned for granted... It's odd. Ember, his one dragon friend, doesn't take him for granted, yet the ponies do. I don't think any of the ponies have ever actually listened to what he has to say, and I honestly think he does have a lot to say, and the ponies can learn much from him. Sadly, we all know they never will, because the show really doesn't like Spike much. Hell, even Discord listens to Spike more than the ponies.

Not to be a... nitpicker, but didn't you have therapy sessions with Spike before?? Like that one video you had with Silverquill, and his fashion disaster so terrible, Rarity basically assaulted him with fashion. It was the video on Spike Episode Ideas. The way you greeted Spike here was like you hadn't really met him before, even though you had. It feels weird... Though that doesn't take away from this visit. It was wonderful and Starbat did an excellent job as well!! Keep on what you do, because the little things will add up. And one day, they'll be able to change the world. That's what's kinda awesome about the Domino effect.

Glad that your non-ponisona will engage in some Orges and Ooglettes with Spike and Big MacIntosh. Put your Brony D&D experiences to the test in Orges and Oogliettes. Just like the letter said from Princess Twilight Sparkle. If you could get Discord to come to a session(with the urging from Fluttershy), or have Fluttershy(making him Pinkie Promise not to do anything Chaotic) with Discord that would look great to do. How about Diamond Tiara or her Parents? Or Silver Spoon and/or possibly her parent as well? We(I for 1) have seen half of the parents for Sunburst and Starlight, maybe try to get them in(separately or with the other half) together? And possibly a really serious session with Scootaloo? Or with the CMCs separately(not like the last session they were there. I know this is a very long wish list for a session with DRWolf, but I hope you and your crew came make them come true?
